Are the Michelin Pilot Super Sports still #1 or..

.. has Goodyear taken over the crown with their "Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3" tire? Read only good stuff bout them, and in some german test (I think) they beat the MPSS.

Anyone gone from MPSS to the F1A3? What do u think, should one try them out for the next set? I might, only problem is they don´t come in 245/35-20, its either 255/35 or 255/30...

Edit: I completely forgot about the Conti SC6!

Yes...yes and yes. Not a better tire for the money. Worth every single penny imo!

I'm partial to the new Continental DW & the SC6 you mention. I've never had MPSS but I've had the Michelin A/S 3s and they were great year round.

Which tire size will you run?

I remember the photo of your 245/35 up front that showed how close it was. I guess 255/35 will rub the wheel suspension even though the sidewall is only 3mm thicker.

I have seen members with 255/35-20 as rear tire size on F30/F31, but never up front.

That´s right, and I would have to go with the stock size (255/30) which kind of sucks. This might actually break it for me even though I really wanna try them out...

Right now the fitment choices, at least at Tirerack are ridiculous for the F1A3. Until Goodyear offers them in appropriate sizes nobody is going to run them. Tirerack is currently selling them for CONSIDERABLY cheaper than PSS's so if they are that good it would be a no brainer - they just dont have them in yet. Since the tire is brand new it might be another year before we see them in quantity.

Do they have the SC6s out yet? Maybe they don't have the sizes for the 19inch OEM wheels

I bought the PSS for my old M3 after going through countless sets of Conti branded tires. PSS is definitely in a different league. Just be careful when the temps start to dip.

They have absolutely held their own for quite some years now (I´ve been running them for 3 years now) but maybe the competition is there now with the CSC6 and F1A3.

And about the PSS when they´re cold; butter in a hot teflon pan has greater traction but luckily it doesn´t take forever to get them warm so just be cautious the first few minutes

They do but even less of a selection than the Goodyear F1 A3.

Hi, Vitoco,

I used Assymetric 2 before- did not like that after PS2- the car was floating under braking, the sidewall was too bouncy (seems typical for Goodyear).
But Assymetric 3 is an interesting new tire- for sure it would be the best to give it a try at someone's car before buying- just pay attention to the facts from 2, which I mentioned.
