I think the difference is that with Eibachs and H&Rs the springs are supposedly designed to work with the stock shocks whereas the BMW M Performance springs are not.

Not to say Eibachs and H&Rs are perfectly matched to the stock shocks any more than the M Perf springs in reality but I am curious to find out if someone is trying it.

the install price for just springs vs coilovers is probably the same

this kit isnt 2k its actually 1550 for the bmw performance, and plus / minus for others

the "drop" isn't really that noticable so that's why people get just h&r springs.

the install price is most definitely not the same ... ive asked around and done the research. if it was only a couple hundred bucks and done in a few hrs, thatd be one thing. most people quote close to a grand and almost a full day, not including alignment for most.

the larger point remains the same though, semantics aside

My friend had coils put on his X6 - $1500 install
My M Performance Suspension - $1040 install
H&R Springs - $200-$300ish Install

$1000 for coilover install? Your getting ripped off.

The installation cost between springs and coilovers should be relatively the same. $300-500

Those are rape prices for coilovers... So sad shops are getting away with this.

I already tried to order them. I'd do it for sure until dinan shockware/springs becomes available. They ask for a vin and can't get the right spring because madaptive. I'd have to use a vin from a similarly equipped non Madaptive to even order or get a part#. Too much of a pain in the ass at the moment for me.

M Performance Suspension also includes anti-roll bars which I understand is quite a bit of work in the F30.

Whether that is a better option than just coilovers is another question.

Interestingly, most people on this forum paid around $1,000. You got a good deal.

the sway bar install is significantly more involved than it was on the e90. that attributes a large part of the labor increase ...

That's A LOT! Some of these SoCal shops charge exorbitant rates (..and I won't name drop, but...ummm..yeah). That is just insane. IMHO, coilovers require less work than springs. I did the work on my E46 M3's (..going from stock suspension to both versions of the Tein's and the TCK's), and it was cake.

Not just SoCal. Check the thread regarding the MPS install. Almost everyone on it received $1,000 install quotes for the MPS.

That is just crazy to me. I mean, that's already $2k to install (...and remove them at the end of the lease or prior to trading the car) on top of the cost of the kit. Ouch!

Funny how this thread turned into a install price dispute thread.

but for real, $1000+ is pretty pricey regardless if its for springs, coilovers, or the perf. suspension. And I'd also say that coilovers are easier to install then just springs since it's already put together

When you find yourself passing M-cars on a track, you'll realize that the engineers that designed the MLS really did tune if for the performance minded.

You sure about this? I asked one of the BMW dealerships vendors on here and they told me they had no problems ordering a set for me. And the price is Pratt cheap. I forget the exact number, but it was like $400 - $500 for the springs.

Someone take the plunge and try this! xD

ive ordered a ton of stuff from tischer (aka getbmwparts.com) and when I tried these springs I couldnt get them. I suppose I could just use another vin from a non DHP msport 8at 335i to get the springs.

Nope, BMW was kind enough to install the wrong shocks first because the M Performance (red ones) hadn't been released...it was a bit bumpy.

Now, with the M performance shocks AND springs, all is well.
So let me get this straight, you currently have M-Perf Shocks + springs (20mm drop?)? Do you have EDC? I'm looking for a drop of 20-50mm but want to retain my factory ride characteristics...

I believe shiv had the standard suspension hence a 20mm drop. I had the sport suspension (MSport) and installed the MPS for an 10mm drop.

Have you had any luck getting hold of the M Performance springs? I have been thinking about this as well for my 335i M Sport/DHP (getting tired of waiting for the Dinan Shockware/springs).

I was wondering about this as well... Would be good to know the spring rates for the M Performance springs, and how they compare to the stock Sport springs... (I assume that the Sport springs are the same for DHP and non-DHP equipped cars)

As for the M Performance springs being a little stiffer, this is part of the reason why I am interested in them. I'm not looking to just lower the car and keep the same (soft) spring rate; I'd like to increase the spring rate a bit, as I feel like this is the weak point in the stock sport suspension. Particularly with DHP equipped cars, where I imagine that the springs are chosen to span the range of Comfort and Sport EDC calibration (probably more toward favoring the comfort end... ) With this in mind, the M Performance springs may well match up perfectly with the electronic dampers in Sport mode. As far as drop, I think 10mm is perfect - not looking for any more than that anyway.
