Not to say Eibachs and H&Rs are perfectly matched to the stock shocks any more than the M Perf springs in reality but I am curious to find out if someone is trying it.

this kit isnt 2k its actually 1550 for the bmw performance, and plus / minus for others the "drop" isn't really that noticable so that's why people get just h&r springs. |

the install price is most definitely not the same ... ive asked around and done the research. if it was only a couple hundred bucks and done in a few hrs, thatd be one thing. most people quote close to a grand and almost a full day, not including alignment for most. the larger point remains the same though, semantics aside

The installation cost between springs and coilovers should be relatively the same. $300-500

I already tried to order them. I'd do it for sure until dinan shockware/springs becomes available. They ask for a vin and can't get the right spring because madaptive. I'd have to use a vin from a similarly equipped non Madaptive to even order or get a part#. Too much of a pain in the ass at the moment for me.

Whether that is a better option than just coilovers is another question.

the sway bar install is significantly more involved than it was on the e90. that attributes a large part of the labor increase ...

That's A LOT! Some of these SoCal shops charge exorbitant rates (..and I won't name drop, but...ummm..yeah). That is just insane. IMHO, coilovers require less work than springs. I did the work on my E46 M3's (..going from stock suspension to both versions of the Tein's and the TCK's), and it was cake.

That is just crazy to me. I mean, that's already $2k to install (...and remove them at the end of the lease or prior to trading the car) on top of the cost of the kit. Ouch!

Funny how this thread turned into a install price dispute thread.
but for real, $1000+ is pretty pricey regardless if its for springs, coilovers, or the perf. suspension. And I'd also say that coilovers are easier to install then just springs since it's already put together |

When you find yourself passing M-cars on a track, you'll realize that the engineers that designed the MLS really did tune if for the performance minded.

As for the M Performance springs being a little stiffer, this is part of the reason why I am interested in them. I'm not looking to just lower the car and keep the same (soft) spring rate; I'd like to increase the spring rate a bit, as I feel like this is the weak point in the stock sport suspension. Particularly with DHP equipped cars, where I imagine that the springs are chosen to span the range of Comfort and Sport EDC calibration (probably more toward favoring the comfort end... ) With this in mind, the M Performance springs may well match up perfectly with the electronic dampers in Sport mode. As far as drop, I think 10mm is perfect - not looking for any more than that anyway.
