I'd have loved the M brakes. Brakes were the first mod I did to the MPS and it's sooooo nice having tonnes of stopping power. However, in terms of feel and pure stopping power, the standards on the Bimmer feel just as good but without the initial bite. That actually makes for smoother driving, which is nice. I'm sure after two big stops the difference would be huge though

The brakes were on and off my spec list throughout my build process: just couldn't justify the extra in the end and they ended up on the "if only" list just behind the HUD

The rears on 2NH are also larger than standard.
Sorry should have made that clearer. The calipers on the US 335i are the same as 2NH option, but they are not painted blue. I have a feeling disc size is not the same either.

IMO after driving the Sport without the upgrade for most of the day, and then getting back into mine with the upgrade, the difference was really noticeable the upgraded brakes are so so much better, peddle feel is really good and feel is very much improved.
It would not be as easy to notice if the cars were not driven back to back.
Worth it to me, and this is not from a mad boot down driver, you can feel the difference in normal driving.
Thanks for the comparison mate, good feedback.

you have missed one thing though.....

.....they look soooo much better as well

Totally with you Nisfan, where does the options cost stop? Can't see why 'normal' BMW brakes are not good enough unless you are a) Michael Schumacher b) reckless. I've driven an 'M' car with 'M performance' brakes and personally find F30 brakes very responsive. We can forever talk up and justify our options choice. IMHO comes down to personal preference. Important thing is not to dismiss or seemingly put down people for not spec'ing things which, sadly, seems to be the way some forum members seem to think.

The standard brakes on BM's are so much better than other premium brands. The Audi we had (for a short time) was appalling for feel on a so called sport model.

But the M Sport upgrades are a step up again.

Ha ha, bad example. Michael Shumacher wished he had the brake upgrade the other weekend, instead he went plowing into some poor hapless driver.

All these options are "Money traps" I like my toys and the brake upgrade looks the business too, agreed not everyone has the funds to go all the way and many think it's just a waste of money, each to their own.

Just because someone does or doesn't spec something or choose a certain engine or trim level, it should never be seen as a reflection on their status or opinion. We all have different priorities and opinions, I think some people on this forum forget that sometimes.

Definitely. I didn't spec the brakes not because I didn't have the money or because I don't see value in them; but because I actively chose not to get them as I've done the big brake thing with the 135i, and wanted a smoother drive this time, like Al said The change to the F30 for me is about comfort, the ride with the adaptive suspension, the quality and refinement, and the tech; while still having a powerful engine like I'm used to. The sporty drive will be nice when I'm in the mood, but unlike the suspension, throttle and steering, there isn't a 'sport' and 'comfort' setting for the brakes; and I'd prefer them to just have that edge taken off them for daily driving

Exactly Mark, just because you didn't go for every extra that doesn't mean you couldn't. When did ordering a car become a competition?! Some of these threads seem a tad competitive and self indulgent rather than necessarily helpful IMHO.

Not sure that is reflected in some of your posts John, just my opinion and not trying to be argumentative.

What do you mean "done your time"? Since when did we have to earn a right of passage or permission to buy a BMW or judge others? We can all open our wallets and have spending power if we so chose, money should never be what talks and often those with the most say the least.

What, you mean you didn't spec them from the options list? Surely morals can be bought if we spend enough money at our BMW dealer
