I'm not usually in this part of the forum, not even sure how i got here, but i just wanted to share something that may be helpful here as a lot of people seem to be suffering from a similar squeaking problem that i had since the day i took delivery of my F30.

I don't claim to be certain that my squeaks are the same as your squeaks, but i can confidently say that all my squeaks are 100% gone. Again, YMMV, so please take this information with a grain of salt This is just another piece of data, coming at you from a different angle, but its good to consider everything when you are dealing with such an elusive problem.

I really wasn't planning to do anything about the squeaking, but i just happened to be doing a Bavsound speaker upgrade last weekend, which forced me to remove my door panels, and what i found underneath the door panel was a little bit shocking and disconcerting. I did a LOT of generic sound deadening work last weekend, and i won't bore you with all the details (but if you are a glutton for punishment, search for "BAVSOUND Special" and look through posts #110-#119 for all info). But as it relates to this topic, i looked for ANYTHING that was loose and unsecured in the door area (that could potentially move when the car was in motion) and tried my best to secure it.

By FAR ... the single biggest source of movement was those little white door connectors that attach the door panel to the door metal. They line the outer edge of the door panel. I've circled all 9 of them in RED in the first picture.

If you take a closer look at these connectors, they are first off, very hard slick plastic. Secondly, they sit in a little black plastic housing that holds them to the door panel, but there are two problems with this. 1) the housing is also very hard slick plastic, and 2) there is a lot of play in the housing that results in the connector moving around freely in it. This is the empty cavity area being pointed to by the yellow arrow in the 3rd picture. When you hold the door panel up and shake it, you'll know what i mean. The 9 connectors produces a pretty loud rattling sound when they bump around in their housing.

Now this rattling sound will for the most part, basically go away when you re-attach the door panel to the door. The pressure of the door panel against the door takes up most of the free slack between the two parts, so that it doesn't rattle freely. However, since there is no soft buffer between these two hard slick plastic pieces, the sound it makes when two rigid slick plastic pieces rub together when the car is in motion is very conducive to being a "squeak."

So in order to remedy the movement, i just cut up tiny shreds of cloth from an old t-shirt and wedged it in between the white connector and the black housing until there was no more movement. I took a video of the after effects of that and the rattle was 100% completely gone. But more importantly, a layer of soft buffering material was inserted between the two rigid bodies to prevent random noises from being generated.

The result? all my squeaks have 100% completely disappeared

The last two pics are of the door pin container as seen from the inside of the door panel. I inserted some electrical tape inside the bottom of the container to provide a "soft cushion/buffer" for the door pin, so that when it moves around when the car is in motion, it will have something soft to bump against. Its a lot less significant source of vibration/squeaking/noise, but since i had the door panels off, i just took care of it for good measure.

To show you what i mean about the rattling, i took before and after videos of the rattling noise in the door panels after inserting little shards of t-shirt material into the free space between the white connector and its housing. The difference is pretty dramatic...

BEFORE - door panel rattling

AFTER - door panel sound after sound deadening (cloth material insertion)

And no, i did not turn off the audio in the 2nd video lol. Again, the RAW rattling sound will naturally go away on its own after you re-insert the door panel to the door (just due to pressure of the door panel being attached to the door), but the bare plastic rubbing against bare plastic situation will not, unless there is some buffering there.

The point of the AFTER video is to show you not that the rattle went away, but that a layer of cloth was inserted between these two parts to buffer them from each other, to prevent the squeaking from being generated when the car is in motion.

What can't rub against each other.... can no longer produce noise

turned out my driver side window is out of alignment and they tighten up and now the noise is eliminated and still having problem with the steering column remains unsolved.

OC1,

Took my car in last week to get the fuel pump replaced and dealer replaced all 4 doors rubber seal, apparently there is a service bulletin for this repair, you might want to give them a call.

That explained why the noise is coming from.

My Stealer wouldn't do the tape. I just make sure it's wiped down when she gets washed, and it's all quiet again.
