So the other day I pulled into the gas station on my way to pick up my gf for our 1 year anniversary date. As soon as I put the hose into the tank it begins to fill and around 2.5 gallons it clicks and begins to leak down from the hole to my tires. At this point im going crazy not knowing what to do and as I took out the hose it began to spill even more. without thinking I took a paper towel and began to wipe the spill as I did it made scratches, the worst feeling ever as this car is only 2 weeks old. But they are not your ordinary scratches you get they seemed more like paint imperfections that you usually see on a black car in sunlight. I am very concerned about the paint I have heard some people say it can make the paint peel. Any suggestions or has this happened to any of you?

Gas won't hurt the paint. But it will strip the wax if you've waxed it. Just touch it up with some polish/wax and it'll be fine.

And in the future, don't wipe your car with a paper towel...

and notify the gas station that it has a faulty nozzle. The gas should not have overflowed like that.

I did frogman I told them and they tell me we cant come out, they were idiots.

Yea Bavarianfanatic, I was in panic at the moment and didnt know what to do, but I poured a ton of water on the part where the gas leaked then wiped it down and cleaned it with wax when I got home later that night.

Would getting it detailed at the dealer remove some of those white lines. You can only see them when light shines on it.

Haha I probably would be depressed if i got rid of it.

I was looking up how to remove those white lines from black cars it turns out their is a liquid called scratch x I wanna try it.
Any thoughts?

I have had this problem at a couple Esso gas stations - I just avoid them now.

Yea I was filling up at USA Gasoline. I usually use 76 gas

In SA we don't fill our own tanks, there are petrol attendants that do that for you. So they guy spills petrol all over the side panel and tire, but then proceeds to try and clean it up with paper towel

dumb mistake, im going to buy some swirl removes liquid they say it removes the swirls and very light scratches

With minor scratches a clay polish and wax of the panel should do it.

its very hard to take a picture, ive tried but it wont come out. In person you can see it very well under the sunlight or in direct light.

Don't use any of that magic swirl/scratch remover crap. You need to use actual polish.
