Seat Base Plastic

Folks, does anyone know if the plastic up the side of the front seat bases can be changed? I’m looking at an F36 for Mrs Lyons that has Oyster leather and white plastic. Whilst I don’t mind oyster leather, the white plastic is too much so would rather have black.

Google photo attached for reference.

Thanks in advance.

The outer cover is removable. I don't know what model you have, but check the TIS for instructions. There are sections for sport & normal seats.

Fantastic news, thanks!

It’s an F36 M Sport.

I’ll have a hunt on realoem and see if there’s a part number for it, though I wouldn’t be hopeful that it’s a replaceable part available.

You can paint it with a spray paint for plastic. You still need to remove it first. https://paintsprayermag.com/best-spr...s-for-plastic/

Why not? The same part is used on 1/2/3/4 series, in black, beige or oyster. $90-115 from the dealer.

I replaced mine from Beige to Black, though the cost is ridiculous for a simple piece of molded plastic.

Despite what others have stated, I would not suggest painting as it will clearly chip from hitting it getting in and out. And to be proper, you should change on both sides.

Looks pretty good. Have you considered replacing the door panel to have a black map pocket and arm rest?

Wow so you replaced the carpet? Must have been a nightmare around the dash. I'm assuming you will be keeping that car for a while.

Really good job though. That stitched merino leather looks great.

That was a chore (along with leather dash at same time).
