Not sure many BMW dealers actually have morals. You're not conceited but you have every right to be!

The only item I wish I had not optioned was the Pro Nav as I'd probably hardly use it. I only bought it because it looks good. Just like buying M-Sport Brakes.
Anyway, so far, the Nav appears to be beset with teething problems.
It's all a bottomless money making pit, IMO.

Yep, 'bottomless' is an apt term. I worry that there is a lot to potentially go wrong in a few years, perhaps less spec = less bills at 3 years & 1 day (ie just after warranty expires when things are programmed to go wrong).

Thanks John.

This is great news for me. I took bit of a punt on the M Sport brakes. Thought they might add marginal benefit and mainly just look nice. Very happy news that they're the real deal.

They make all their money on options. A bit peeved off that I spent £5000+ on options of which nearly £2000 was on the Pro Nav.

Hi Clarence,

Just checking I've got you right - you're saying the front rotors on the M Sport brake system are 370mm? That's serious stuff!

£2k for Nav is outrageous no matter how good it looks, we are slaves to the Munich pension fund!

It's more than just NAV though innit. I agree it's outrageous but they also know it's #1 on most people's list, every company car will have it and you can't sell a 2nd hand Bee Emm without it. So we pay it.

Yes I guess it would be almost expected to have it when it comes to resale but I am sure BMW dealers will make a good case for their cars that don't have it. Depends if you are buying or selling. If you are going to spec business nav for £1.5k anyway, I guess the extra for pro nav might be easier to swallow but still a hell of a lot of money for us mere mortals.

Would have saved a packet by purchasing the Syrius Pro Sound DB8500 Sat Nav by Snooper with life time updates, 7" LCD Screen plus built-in DAB and FM Transmitter with the ability to play DAB Radio, DVB-T Freeview TV and Nav Instructions through the vehicle's in-built speakers. Feel I've doubly shafted myself superbly.

If you can't sell a 2nd hand one without it how comes they don't make the monthly payments more attractive to improve the residuals when contract hiring ?

I went without the built in nav to have some other options and buy a sat-nav when i get the car. I hadn't heard of syrius one but just googled it. Is it as good as it sounds ?

Not to worry your not the only one...the nearest my dealer could get me to a F30 330D was a new 535D...go figure!

I guess when you do get behind the wheel of your own 330D spec'd just the way want it all will be forgiven..

BTW my delivery date is also 10/12/12..

Yes, for 328i & above the fronts are 370x30 & rears are 345x24.

All 335i, whether US or EU/ROW have 4-pot front calipers as standard. I don't think they are interchangeable with 2NH cos the disc size is much bigger on the 2NH (370mm vs 340mm).

Yes a "Hell of a lot of money" and lets face it's not that many years have passed when we just used a MAP and rarely got lost .
I think this "must have for resale" is just a way to make big bucks for the dealers on options, come resale time the dealers play the up or down game 0n your PX value.
Some people get a bit sucked in ( me included) and go over the top on options, but come PX time I push as hard as I can on the next deal playing them off against each other to find a good deal

Not true, most company cars are leased, and with most lease companies the options policy is simple, you either pay up front for them or they amortise the option over the lease period so it is fully paid for at termination. Either way it adds a hell of a lot to the cost of the vehicle, therefore most co. cars WON'T have Nav fitted.

Just worked out Pro Nav would cost £55 per month on a 36 month lease. What co. car driver will downgrade the model to accomodate NAV?

For those that bought Nav, it adds roughly £500 to the re-sale value. Not too bad as other than Automatic gearbox, all other options add zilch.
