I recently upgraded from a '14 335 xi to a '17 340xi, both 6spd, and have MPPK/MPE.
Still breaking it in, but first impressions are great. Definitely feel the engine being stronger more eager to pull, and the exhaust sounds a lot louder. The '14 had the euro/Canadian spec #339 model MPE, not sure what the current one has, but I know from reading the board that the #339 is a quieter version of the MPE that comes on manual cars here in Canada. The new car also has Active sound so that could be adding to the loudness as well. As far as steering feel goes, both cars have the VSS, and the '17 feels a lot heavier in sports mode... so much so that parking maneuvers feel like I've lost power steering and I have to really work it. The leather on the steering wheel feels different, not sure if they changed it at some point, or I just had forgotten what a new one felt like as my old one got worn in pretty badly. I knew I wanted a manual again and it didn't leave too many options out there, I hope BMW will continue to offer it on the G20. Oh and the auto revmatching is great! |

So we have a 2015 435 GC in the garage (and a 328) along with our new 340 in the garage all MSport. I routinely go back and forth now between the 335 and the 340...that said the 340 sounds better, pulls harder and is a different animal altogether...still not a fan of the steering but that B58 engine.....

I struggle....because what I really loved driving was my 2011 E90 MSport Diesel, the 340 replaced that, I would say the steering is "better" vs my 435... IMHO it's not a huge difference - and it still has a dead spot on long sweeping turns (like a SoCal carpool to carpool transition at 70mph or so)....I just learned that yesterday :-(
