This is what I'm offering my CA

340i xDrive.
MSRP $67207.00
Residual % 61%
Residual Value $40996.27
Net Cap Cost (offer) $64518.72
Downpayment $2500.00
Depreciation Value $21022.45
Monthly Depreciation $583.96
Money Factor (MF) 0.00134
MF Payment $141.39
Payment (no tax) $725.35
Total Payment $796.43

He's countering saying the MF of 0.00134 is the dealer's rate and my special employee rate is .00154. There is also a $925 bank acquisition fee.

I'm not looking for the absolute rock bottom price just a fair one. How far off am I?

The dealers rate is also the "base rate" so he is not "lying to you" about that, but there is no such thing as your "special employee rate" being higher than the buy rate. They just want to mark up the rate and he is telling you whatever he can to mark it up.

I dont remember if you have a corporate discount (but based on him saying "special employee rate" it sounds like you might. If so, then he is quoting you the maximum MF markup of .00174 and then reducing it by your corporate discount to your "special employee rate" of .00154.

There is nothing saying you cant get the "buy rate" which he is calling the dealer rate, and also apply your corporate discount, thereby ending up with a money factor of .00114. Nothing other than the dealer being unwilling to do it.. (its a negotiation, so they dont HAVE to give you the buy rate but there is no reason they cant if they wanted to.. they wont lose money they just wont MAKE money on your financing).

The rest of the deal does not look that agressive to me either actually. The sales price looks like its 2k ish over invoice, and if you get a corporate discount there is also money attached to that (which means your quote is even less aggressive).

RV is non negotiable (and looks like is the RV for 36 month / 12 a year).

I suspect that the "down payment" is actually "drive offs" but dont feel like breaking out a lease calculator to calculate your deal. If that is actually cap cost reduction instead of drive offs, then the deal is even a bit worse than it looks on the surface.

I dont know where in the country you are, but here in southern california that would not be a very compelling deal. If you are someplace without a lot of dealers (or someplace like texas where they seem to play super hardball and not really negotiate a ton ), it might be different. I would not sign that deal you have there though... but I am not the one buying the car, you are and I am just giving my opinion.

I found another MT 340i on the lot, the only problem is the MSRP is significantly higher than the one I would order. I was hoping it being on the lot would make me break even to one I would order with far less options. Thoughts?

2017 340i
MSRP 58,245
After residualized add-on 58,440 (I'm guessing pedals?)
Sell price 53,020
No incentives / No Fleet discount
Quote as of 02/10/17

Verified the monthly payment and it checks out.

Cash offers no advantage over financing for the dealer. They get their money no matter what. If anything it is a disadvantage because no kickback on selling the financing product.

Your CA would be stupid to not take this. You can do way better.

2017 340xi (cold weather, driver assist and plus, lighting, m sport, tech, track, black kidney, stain pedals, apple and ultimate care+)
$63,160 MSRP
$57,905 SP (after corp discount of $1500 and included dealer fee)
MF .00105 (after corp and full MSDs)
62% residual
10k miles
8.3% CO tax
$704.65 + MSDs due at signing
$704.65 per month

The above is for an order.

This is after shopping around the dealerships. Is this good or should I wait/negotiate more?

They are marking up the MF. Base rate of .00134 minus full MSDs (.00049 reduction) and Corp (.00020 reduction) = .00065 MF

Your negotiating power on the sales price is likely less being it's a special order. Some food for thought - $700 with MSDs is getting into M3 territory. I realize it's not X drive, but still worth considering along with a set of snow shoes for the winter. Not to mention by the time your X drive order arrives it'll be spring anyway!

Yeah... all the dealerships were starting at .00179!! I was kind of shocked. I think the sale price is good for an order, can I get a better MF?

Assuming you qualify for Tier 1 credit, absolutely.

I was working with another dealership who claimed they absolutely never offer base MF, not even to employees. They eventually caved and offered base MF because I stuck to my guns.

The dealer has to earn your business, not the other way around.

Similar situation here...Ordered a car last month. Original quote for lease was with marked up MF...I had to get another quote from another dealer with base MF to get them to budge which they did. And I have amazing credit too.

MSRP: $63,012
Selling Price: $57,227

This is without taxes (MD 6%), tags and dealer fees of course
How can we advise you if its a good deal if we dont know what the fees are? Also, are you paying cash? If not the financing options also matter in whether the deal is good or not.

Selling price is a major part but not the only part of a deal, and you can absolutely get a great selling price but a crappy rest of the deal, turning a good price into a horrible deal.

The sales price is somewhere around invoice (maybe even slightly below) from my napkin math. You might want to check to see if you can get better than your 2.9 quote from your bank. PenFed credit union is usually pretty agressive, and BMW itself is normally around 2.9 as well.

Cant advise you on the taxes because in california it does not work how you describe, so I am not familiar enough with how tax credits and such are applied to discuss it.

Whenever you introduce a trade into the deal, it does add some more complexity, but it sounds like you know what your trade in is worth, and that you are getting a good deal on it.

So, the sales price looks ok, given there are not any real incentives right now. Do you have access to the corporate discount?

I appreciate your feedback. No, unfortunately I don't have access to any corporate discounts and I don't belong to USAA. I hate to limit myself to MD dealers but that's where I can get the nice tax break, one of the VERY few tax breaks in MD...but I won't complain about taxes to someone who lives in Cali

One other thing I was curious about (this is my first bimmer) are the sales incentives BMW offers each month. A few of the dealers I've worked with have indicated that it would be best to buy before the end of the month to take advantage of the lockable incentives. Evidently, BMW offers higher incentives in the slower sales months (Dec-Feb) to help the dealerships out. So it's almost March and haven't placed an order yet, still debating a few options and I don't like to rush decisions like this. Does anyone know if the incentives really change THAT much month-to-month?
