1. Automatically put drivers seat backward when door is open for memory seats (My G35 had this, easier to get out of the car)
2. Better location for power outlets (my LCI has one all the way in the passenger side footwell, poorly accessable) There should be one by the cellphone/sunglass holder area.
3. Sunglass storage area by driver's side "oh shit" handle, like in the X1
4. ventilated cooling seats
5. More storage areas (like behind passenger seats)

Only minor gripes

1. Realistic pricing of nav option (a Nuvi is $200, come on)
2. Comfort access and security system standard
3. RFT delete option
4. Ribbed metal scuff pad on driver side tranny hump.
5. Bring more diesels to N.A.
6. Bring back lighter/ashtray/lid. Deleting them for LCI was plain cheap
7. A2DP bluetooth support
8. Ceramic clearcoat

Over speed ding is still there, you can set the desired speed at which it warns you through the idrive, not sure about non-ID cars

Dear BMW,

Make the driving experience more like an e30 M3.

I don't want to hear about the next 3er being even softer than its previous generation (like the new 5er). You're a sport car company, please make sure your keeping your heritage alive.

Words that come to mind:
• Raw'er,
• Driver oriented
• I want to feel the road
• I want every drive to be exhausting and give me goose pimples)

If you can get any of those things right, I'll keep coming back for more.
Thank you.

AMEN!

Add dipstick, add wheel well for spare, even if they charge extra, I would pay for it.

Also, I still like center window controls because I drive manual, but not as important as spare tire.

Just as important, reduce weight, especially M3 (I know spare adds weight!) Still cars too heavy.

Finally, make them pretty again, this current generation is not as attractive as previous cars.

Agree with this.

Compared to every BMW -in fact, every other car, which is a lot- I have driven, the cruise controls on my Accord are the best. I love the fact that they are right next to my thumb on the steering wheel for quick adjustment.

I'd like to see these as standard:
-Leather
-Alarm
-Heated seats
-Split fold rear seats
-Comfort access
-iPod integration
-Xenon

These as factory options:
-LSD (won't happen but I can dream)
-Performance parts
-Black headliner
-Digital temp/boost gauges in the idrive
-Non-runflats

And these as improvements:
-Better padded armrests in doors and on center console. Current ones feel like they're made of granite.
-Better stereo. Seriously.
-Replace the air recirculation button on the steering wheel with traction control button.
-Dipstick
-Shopping hooks in the trunk
-Rear power outlet, and maybe one that accepts a standard plug?
-Glove compartment that can fit the fucking user manual in it

i am NOT sure BMW will read this forum but:

1) more comfortable suspension without compromising handling. the magnetic dampers would be just fine. I think the original run flat designed suspension is a flop. After having driven my E90 on generally poor roads on 17in rims during 5 years, and an occasional euro trip and Autobahn blasts, my conclusion is that the suspension on regular roads for E90 is weak. The car tramlines like crazy. I'm not gonna put 18s on here even. No point. It is very skittish on poor rutted roads, so typical in northern climates where spikes dig small ruts over winter, in asphalt (not granite but regular made black tarmac). On Autobahn, the car is fantastic and very comfortable. Simply amazing. It goes to 150-200 and you don't feel it. For a small car, this is truly impressive. I'd like them to sort out the skittishness in the bad road. My wife's 05 Audi A4 S line drives smoother. That's not right.

2) Better ergonomics in interior. Despite BMW being one of the best in ergonomics, I feel E90 is a bit of a let down on couple of things. First, the placement of window switches is awkward on pre-Lci and you can often open rear windows. Second, the steering rim will overlap the top part of the speedometer in seating position. I'm 6.1 and I think it's average height so I'm sure my complaint here is not too uncommon. Third, the placement of Radio controls etc is too damn centric. I want it facing me. Now it's kidna pointless, in noman's land. I also think it's time to do away with monochrome display units. It's 2011....

3) Get a handle on windshield supplier. Pinkelton has to be dropped. They are awful quality windshields. Saint Gobain holds up MUCH better. My Pinkeltons' were switched over 3 times in 3 years. Nasty, soft stuff.

4) The soft touch paint is a disaster. cheap sure. But it peels after 3-5 years on handles, console. I think it's bad.

5) The fit and finish of interior has to be better than currently. I can see the metal surface of doors from interior, and it's uneven. There's some places where door cards don't meet the a-pillar directly so some gap shows metal through. it's nonsense. Looks cheap.

6) The amount of crickets and noises in interior is way too much for this car. Behind the went. The seatbelt area. the seat. Behind the dash. Come on BMW, this is too much.

7) Expand the base model spec. I want folding seats and xenons as standard. Heck, I want the manual to be a free option too. 2k Euro for auto box is stupid.

8) Make sure that the offset of the rims is not too conservative (or track is wider). All of E9x on rims narrower than x8.5 look silly. More flush fitment standard. If Merc and Audi can do it, so can you!

9) I wan the HUD as option. I think it's the best damn gadget I'd use.

10) as mentioned above, need a decent sized glove compartment and or storage options (hooks in trunk, etc). With a kid, you realize this car is COMPLETELY pointless unless it's a Touring. that's not right. Make a car that doesn't force customers to switch. I'm thinking about this right now.

That's all that's wrong with the current generation of the 3er. I think it's a great car, fantastic looking (i am a fan of bangle's work though) and handles well. But dampening issues above would be my top complaint.

I drive my car everyday, and everywhere and this is what irks me most:

1) Brake pads the generate less noise and dust (surprised no one has mentioned this yet)
2) Intermittent wipers (low, not so low, med, high)

Cloth interior?? Do you really think bmw would loose their reputation of being a luxury brand? They offer leatherette....

Reliabilty? Well they might have had a few problems with the first gen fuel pump but besides that and some injectors bmw is very reliable! My 335i is on the original 07 fuel pump

And cabin storage is limited since the 3 series is a small car... We sure as hell dont want them any bigger/heavier if so get a 5 series.

Stripped down version.... Well they do offer a base version, Im nkt really sure what else tbey could take out and not affect the brands name.
BMW's do offer Cloth seats in the individual program. They came on BMW E46 M3 Individuals and were offered in the E36.

So how would they lose their reputation if they always offered it?

Here's some of my items on the wish list.

-option to drop runflats and add spare tire kit w/jack
-bring back coolant temperature gauge
-LSD as an option
-add oil dipstick
-add back the cigarette lighter/power outlet
-BMW Performance parts as factory options
-option for a metal sunroof (as opposed to the glass moonroof)
-option of Alcantara or cloth interior. ( maybe as an option on M-Sport Package)

On the note of wipers, I wouldn't mind the blades wiping fewer times after a windshield fluid spray. It wipes four times right now, which is two too many. After the second wipe it just streaks on my car.

if it hasn't already been said, change the material of the STUPID and MINDLESS peeling trim that is on the door panel/steering wheel/center console. They seriously keep using the same cheap peeling plastic that was on my E46 M3 and probably the e36 too.

More power, better fuel economy, more reliable, diesels with MT, more standard equipment (everything in premium packages should be standard as well as an alarm), window control in center and don't dare put those after thought cupholders as in the 6 series and Z4.
