I think you've been screwed here, not only is the dealer being shit about fixing your issue but you've got a poor replacement. Where did your assist car come from? Should have been from Enterprise which means BMW UK are paying for it and should put pressure on the dealer to sort it. If it's Enterprise then they've failed IMO and BMW UK/Assist need poking, the worst I've had from them is a brand new 520d M Sport. The only time I get 1 series is while my car is in for routine maintenance which the dealer provides.

Yup this car came from enterprise. I'm going to call them in a bit and ask if my aircon was fixed yesterday as per its original booking.
My issue was it was 5pm on a sunday when the car was delivered so they said they had limited stock. Oh and because my car is a "recovery" issue it means that my air con appointment was simply skipped over. Last edited by chris-c; 05-16-2018 at 02:49 AM.. |

My last recovery, Enterprise couldn't provide a BMW locally, so offered one from Glasgow, couldn't guarantee delivery in less than 48 hours. I just wanted wheels to get home, was willing to take anything. That caused a problem, as BMW won't allow some marques to be used. On my insistence to have the first car available locally, eventually ended up with a Volvo. It took almost 4-hours to get a car which was only 10 minutes drive from my recovery. One time ended up with a Golf 1.6 Bluemotion, simply to get mobile again. |

I think I'm just more pissed off at it not moving at all on Monday then it being sat not being looked at all day yesterday despite me having it booked in for the air con to be looked at.
"no no, it'll just be one person in the recovery area looking at your car now so it doesn't matter that it had an appointment, that was simply cancelled". Like fuck should that happen. I booked it in 2 weeks ago for Tuesday. I had to wait that long because they are so busy. I didn't even ask for a car for that day as I arranged with the missus I'd use the other car. I knew I'd have to wait longer if I needed a courtesy car arranged by coopers. I told the guy I wasn't happy about the Tuesday appointment or the fact I've gone from a 3 series estate to a 1 series and his reply was "well, I can't give you all of your answers". Well actually you can give me one answer about the Tuesday appointment! The guy said "well, there are no guarantees we will get to look at it today either but we will try". I really want to use them as they are local but this sucks hairy asscracks. |

This car is still with me until 5pm. I'm assuming the dealer knows this and because of this they feel they've got a safety net to look at it by then so why bother rushing.
Maybe a year after buying my volvo I did an oil change and put the "correct" amount of oil in it which unknown to me was too much due to a recall for the D5's. I called the nearest garage, explained the error and the oil change and they said to bring it in the next day. I did, got a car, had my car cleaned and all systems updated. I dont think I'm crazy to expect a similar level of care from BMW. Saying that a colleague got a poverty spec mini whilst his car was in being serviced. The same colleague has an X1 through Alphabet and they wanted to screw him over with a longer lead time of the car. "Oh you can continue paying the extra money for a few months whilst the vehicle isn't ready and you can keep your A3". He told them he'd gladly cancel the order, give back the A3 and go elsewhere. Within 24 hours he had a brand new 420 with "unlimited mileage" on it so he drove it to Scotland that weekend (1000 miles over 4 days) then to Poland the following weekend then instead of coming directly home he went via the south of france. He has a personal lease allowance of 8000 miles. He did something like 5000 miles in the space of 2months that he had the car with the extra journeys and normal commuting. He well and truely ran that car in Last edited by chris-c; 05-16-2018 at 03:19 AM.. |

Well it's official. I have stone damage and its not covered under warranty. They want £1030 to rectify it.
Tomorrow morning I'm getting a call from the garage I purchased the car from. I only found out about the issue when I noticed my air conditioning wasn't working the first time I came to rely on it on the 5th May. I purchased the car on the 15th Feb so there was no way I'd have found the air conditioning to work or not and there is no way they could have said it was working. Looking at the met office I think I'm okay in saying my air con wouldn't really have been noticiable in the time I owned it: Feb - Max 5.4c | Mean max for month 2.4c March - Max 7.9c | Mean max for month 4.7c April - Max 13.2 | Mean max for month 9.6c Oh and the radiator is on back order in germany so no idea of when it'll be ready. Yeah fuck that, I'd go ape shit at the supplying dealer. In fact, are you able to reject it as it has a fault? Start talking about rejections and most dealers suddenly become more receptive to issues like this.

The supplying dealer was very friendly on the phone. I spoke to the main used sales manager as the sales person wasn't working yesterday. They're bringing this up in their first morning meeting and I'll hear what is going on from there.
I appreciate it was late in the day but I will push for not knowing what prior damage could have been done with driving for no-one knows how many miles before this was noticed. |

Well I've been told that the garage A) wont accept that the problem was there 2 months ago when the car went through UAC as clearly they inspect the radiators for stone damage.... B) They wont accept covering any cost of the work to rectify

I can't claim on the insurance as I refuse to lie on a claim. I can't say that it happened XYZ because I honestly do not believe it happened whilst I owned the vehicle.
I called BMW UK who told me they will help where they can but there is a process that needs to be followed. I've emailed the head of business @ cotswold to see if he can help. They claim everything with the car was perfect because it had the UAC. The UAC didnt notice the rattling exhaust that was changed 1 month after purchasing the car (450 miles in) and the UAC checklist said that my car didnt need the internal 12v ports checked as it doesnt have them nor did my car need the memory seats checked as it doesnt have them either... odd that it has both of those. If all else fails small claims court maybe? I dont need the car tomorrow, I'll work from home. I dont need the car at the weekend as I'll just use the Volvo. Next week, dont really care. I'll work from home or take the other car. Someone will get bored of me before I fork out 1k to get it fixed. Well its standard practice for the dealership to reach out to BMW UK and ask for help.
I was told by BMW UK that I could leave it with Coopers Reading but I want Cotswold to right the wrong now. |

Interesting that some dealers are offering a warranty replacement for a freak incident, and others - like myself - had to pay. The local dealer offered a 10% reduction last year as a goodwill measure when the intercooler radiator was punctured by a stone, and it still cost me £700...

Taken from which consumer rights:
During the first six months after purchase, it's the responsibility of the seller to prove the fault wasn't there, not for you to prove that it was. Put the onus on them to prove it |
