No more ASS, naturally

ASS or no ASS?

Well, for the past three days, the temp has been below 20F in my neck of woods. Get this, ASS was completely disabled by itself, naturally -

Haha, yes, I noticed this too. Guess, it's too cold for it to shut off and still maintain all it's systems running.

Think I'm one of the few that doesn't mind the ASS system as long as it's stop lights, etc. but it's terrible for bumper to bumper traffic.

Get the Last User fix and you can choose whether to use your ASS or not. Perfect!

Haha. You're not alone. I keep mine on too.

I noticed this yesterday too. I kept on trying to think if I was doing something wrong: steering wheel turned too much, not putting enough pressure on the brake pedal, climate demand too high... Finally noticed it was in the 20's. Once in the 30's it started shutting off again.

I guess BMW just decided we didn't need ASS during the winter.

Not really. I had mine to "remember last setting" coded. The fact is once its below 20F, there is no ASS. German took your right to choose away. Not so perfect -

I used to hate ASS when I first tested drive the F30, and was trying to ask dealer to code it right after the delivery, but seems my car doesn't make a lot of noise like the test drive car did. I think I can live with "MY ASS ON" lol~~

This feature has been around since the E9x ED models in the Uk.

The ASS is disabled at temperatures below 3C (32F)

My 2008 E90's ASS only enabled above 3c. In my F30 (320d ED) it still shut off at 1c in the cold snap we had a few weeks ago. Worked perfectly. Got a warning chime at 3c but ASS still enabled. Never had it coded.

The manual still says 3C, but I must admit I have noticed my F30 318 also seems to ignore some of the other (preventing) parameters

If I stop my car in the driveway, ASS engages (engine stops), and unbuckle the drivers seatbelt, it will still restart. E90's didn't do this.
