Hey everyone! I've been DD'ing an e30 for about the past 13 years and have been pretty active in the e30 scene over on r3vlimited. I've had about 5 e30s including an m30b35 swapped convertible and had plans to turbo my '91 325i coupe. I'd finished building my MegaSquirt and had 95% of the turbo parts sitting on my shelf.

Left side is the 1989 325iA sedan and right is the 1991 325i coupe:

A 2014 335i 6mt came up for sale through a friend of a friend, but I really didn't need a third car. Then my coupe got totaled in a head-on crash by someone who didn't yield.

Suddenly I needed another car (something always breaks, so you can't have just 1 e30). After a ton of research, I ended up with my f30. It's been insane to jump 25 years of improvements and it feels like I'm driving a spaceship.

Here's a shot of the f30 and remaining e30:

I decided that I'd just drive it stock and enjoy a comfortable, fast, and reliable car. Well it's been a couple of months, and now I'm looking into BM3 vs MHD, m-sport brake upgrades, and bolt-on upgrades. I have a feeling this is going to be a slippery slope.

I guess I'll start a build thread to document my adventures!

I helped my friend build an E30 conv, M3 complete front and rear axle / suspension / brakes swap, M30B35 turbocharged engine +.
This car is scary fast!!!!

Congratulation on your purchase, your car looks great. I used to be big in the E34 world, I even documented all my repairs and created a website awhile back www.bwme34.net.
I understand the feeling of going from older tech to an F30.

Sorry about your E30, but glad you walked away from your accident.

I recently went down from 2 cars to 1 (sold my M2) and my 328 went from the stock/boring daily driver to the new "fun car" so I'm heading down the same slippery slope you are, if that makes you feel any better

Was a bone stock base model 3er and now I have an M sport steering wheel, M sport body kit, new wheels, tail lights, and a tune.

Yeah, just the b35 in an e30 is definitely sufficient power/torque. Throwing a turbo on it is just insanity!

Yeah, I just can't seem to leave things alone. Power upgrades on an e30 require engine builds, standalone ECU, and/or a turbo. The n55 is so easy/cheap to upgrade, it just "makes sense" to go for it. Or at least, that's how I rationalize it.

Looks like it's time to start a build thread. For now it's just basic maintenance, but I have a feeling I'm going to start making it faster.

For now, fluid flush time!
