I have one ding on my rear wheel arch. On my previous 330i I had long scratches on the trunk where it looked like someone rested a box and then slid it off.

People suck.

get it fixed at local BMW dealer for a "small" fee! These guys are good and you can not tell where the ding was after they are done with the car.

The second week after I picked up the car, a wood block came flying from the opposite direction of the highway. All I could do was let it hit my car and hope for minimal damage. Luckily it only hit the front license plate. It bent the platen nicked the bottom lip and caused some damage underneath the license holder from the screws.

Try parking in an end spot so that if a car decides to park next to you, their passenger door is facing your drivers door and there's usually less of a chance of them having a passenger with them to open that door. Works for me

Sitting in my car finishing a call last week in a lot with several empty spaces, including one to either side of me. An Explorer or Tahoe or some other stupid-sized SUV pulls up on my passenger side, and I actually think about backing up before the driver can start getting out. I hesitate because surely the driver, seeing me sitting in my car, will not make contact. This fat ****er opens the door, bangs my door, still can't get out, bangs it again!, I angrily ask why he didn't park in one of the other 20 spaces with empty spaces if his car is too ****ing wide to open the door enough to get out without beating up other people's cars.

I actually had to move my car for him to be able to get out, which means he would've beat the s*** out of my car squeezing out if I hadn't been sitting there yelling at him when he started. If all that makes me an a****** then I'll be that. But in my opinion, he knows he drives a wide SUV, knew he parked close to another car, and saw no problem at all with banging his door into it while getting out. To me, that is highly selfish and inconsiderate. Dangit, I wish I hadn't seen this thread, now I'm mad all over again!

Last night - parking for the movies.

There's no preventing it. But I try to park in protected places whenever I can.

parking a nice car is a bitch. i drive myself crazy. i literally will scope the area not just for how close cars can park next to me but also is there any landscaping going on near by? id seen landscapers smash cars with their leaf blower gas tanks a few times at my job. also check if where i park some1 could easily back into me or side swipe me. i analyze where i park every time, its terrible, if u park too far away from everything then ur calling attention also.

then there r trees which also are a hazard, also stuff that freaks me out in my house are kids who play nearby with scooters, skateboards, and all kinds of shit

if u let it driver u crazy u wouldn't pull ur car out the garage

something i been doing lately also becuz i got rear ended a few months ago in my last car is leaving half a car length or so infront of me as i pull up to a stop light, then ill watch the car behind me as it pulls up to see if there paying attention or not and if i feel they get too close ill move forward. lol.

Or you can have your lovely wife put a door ding on your 500 mile old 340i in your own garage.

These are daily drivers and unfortunately its going to happen.

I know a guy whose wife crashed into their garage. Twice.

That guy did that stuff to f**k with you and I think you'll know that.

Makes little sense to be non-confrontational when others start down that path with you. In such an instance I'm more likely to ether get physical, kick a big ass dent in his truck then slash the tire while he's standing there then leave, or you can take the semi- high road and treat it as an accident. Once he has to pay his deductible, he'd think twice about parking next to another luxury car.

More people just need to get punched in the face. Pain teaches many valuable lessons.

Glad to see I'm not the only crazy one to do all that. Run every possible scenario before parking it.....

Sometimes I can't understand how inconsiderate people are but people please don't resort to violence, instead take a picture of the incident and report it. Maybe if he gets to pay the deductible for the claim hell think twice before hitting another car...
