I've had Tannin red in a 330ci M sport years ago and Imola red in a E46 M3 both purchased from new just used Auto Glym Leather Cleaner every couple of months and used Swissvax to condition and they looked like new when I got rid of the 3 years later so I don't see any problems with getting the Coral red as long as you look after it occasionally.

Almost 4 years in on my 135i and it still looks brand new. The area that wears quickly for some people is the side bolster and/or side protrusion on the base of the seat. I just make a little extra effort not to drag my butt against it when I'm getting in.

I had Coral Red in my 2007 E92 for almost 5 years with NO signs of wear ... I got so many compliments about it ... Absolutely loved it!
With that said when I was deciding which new F30 to get it was between Red (Melbourne) and White ... I saw the White with Coral combo and it somehow just did not look right ... Well at the end wifey wanted red car (black interior) so we got it - and it was a great choice too ...
I just think the Coral Red interior needs darker outside color to fully shine ... but as we know beauty is in the eye of the beholder ...

My 135i was space gray with coral. Awesome combo, I received compliments all the time, even at drive through's. Guys and gals loved it, me too.
I went with black in my 335i, because I wanted melbourne red and coral would have been too too much. Black in red is classic.

I like white w/coral. The contrast is as striking as black w/coral.
With space gray and silver the contrast is more subdued.
Maybe that's why you don't like white w/coral, high contrast.

Anyone else have personal experience with BMW red leather upholstery? (1-5 years?)

Any thoughts on potential impact on resale value? Seems like there might be a smaller pool of potential buyers of a red interior on the secondary market down the road. I love it- but I imagine many people might dislike the contrast.
I just bought a 08 with crimson red leather seats, and let me tell you, I won't say new, but in very nice condition, no signs of wear, just minors black spots due to the dirt, wich i cleaned them already, well basically the driver seat.

This is the key, especially with sport seats - we have Chestnut seats in the 335, and have only one area of issue on the side bolster where my wife was dragging her jeans with rivets - after she started paying attn, no further issues.

No issues at all in the 135 vert after 9 months, we liked it enough that we ordered it on the F30 M-Sport due in Dec

The Drive for Team USA car I saw had the red interior and it had some pretty gnarly wear, but I'd expect that car to be the worst case scenario since it has a ton of people getting in and out every 20 minutes and no one giving it the time of day to clean it up.

Like any leather, abrasive clothing, cheap denim, etc all cause issues. I still ended up going with the red, plus on a lease it's not my problem after 3 years.

If the leather begins showing signs of wear, just get Swissvax leather healer (it's leather dye that's matched perfectly to the coral red).

Funny, I'm closing in on two weeks with coral red interior and was just thinking about long-term wear just today. Reason being, I had to clean a spot off the rear seat where a dealer employee left a hand print -- looks like he/she had a greasy hand and, for some reason, leaned into the rear seat.

(I had to take it to the dealer because bluetooth simply will not work in the car -- new module has to be installed this coming week).

Anyway. I used Lexol cleaner and conditioner on the spot and it's good as new.

A previous poster made the best point: pick the color you like and deal with care and upkeep as needed. Personally I can't tolerate light colored carpet because it shows dirt so easily and I don't want to have constantly to worry about cleaning it... but the coral red leather is so awesome that it's worth the upkeep (at least that's what I think 13 days in).

Ah, funny to see an old thread I started over a year ago before I even placed my order. I am coming up on the one year mark since I did my European Delivery and JUST hit 15,000 miles this weekend...the Coral Red interior seems to be holding up pretty nicely. The driver's seat has some darkening on the side bolsters, I am assuming from some of my dark-colored jeans, but it cleans up relatively easily. 100% no regrets on the Coral Red.

Coral red holds up very well, the only thing to watch out for is that is more susceptable to color change, if you park outside it can lighten up a shade or two after many years. Still looks great, and doesn't turn to pink, just something to be aware of.

I don't see why it would be any worse than beige.

I had a Dove Grey interior on my E36 M3, it wore just fine (sold it when it was 8 years old).

I have a 2006 E46 M3 convertible (cosmos black with red interior) and it still looks like new. Of course, a little maintenance goes a long way with any interior.

I just ordered a f31 m sport (silver with red interior.)

My car is now a year old and the coral red is holding up nicely. I loaded the car up twice while moving with tons of things that could leave marks and it never sustained any damage. I do recommend every 3 months to clean and condition (2 separate steps) to keep it in top shape and to ensure the leather doesn't dry out.

Ordered 328i RWD MT ---> AW with Coral Red last week.

Decided to drop all updates and go with lightly optioned F30 under 40K.

Only options I choose are: moonroof and rearview camera

I saw sales guy's 3 year old CR interior. It was all in flawless shape and condition. He also showed me the 6 months old beige 2015 model, this one he shoed me the external color transfer to lether seat from Jean.
He advised, be careful while get into the car with speciality leather colors. Specially red, blue and beige.

I have Coral Red in my F32 and the light Tan (whatever it's called in my X3 and don't have any color transfer from jeans.

The thing to remember is that just like having a car with black exterior; yes these colors are higher maintenance.

This involves frequent cleaning and using quality products; not that shit you find at the Wal-Mart or an Auto Zone. Good stuff has to be ordered online usually. Amazon is your friend.

I clean and condition my seats at least once per month.

Is it really necessary to condition the leather? I have read so many conflicting reports on this it makes my head hurt. Some argue that leather in our cars are already sealed so there is no need for conditioner? So far, I just use water and a MF cloth to clean my seats and steering wheel especially at the high wear areas. Doing this has maintained the showroom matte finish (not shiny).

Is there a definitive answer on conditioning car leather?
