Samsung s8 plus or note 8
I Have had two Samsung's now and they are great. I was going to upgrade my s7 edge to the s8 plus but someone showed by the note 8 at work and it got me thinking.
Yes the note is huge but a screen to size ration is great and even with a case it wasn't unwieldy. Does anyone have a note 8 and if so how does it fit with jeans pockets etc?! I have also seen the dex dock which instantly turns the phone to a pc and was blown away. Samsung is so far advance to Apple now there is no comparason. |

I've always had both apple and android handsets simultaneously- personal and work phones. Always relatively disliked the androids, especially Samsungs of which I have had four - until recently a S6. My current iPhone is a 7.
I got a Note 8 a couple of weeks back and it is awesome. The first android handset that I've really enjoyed using. The screen is fantastic and so is general useability. Last week I was in New York all week, too warm for a jacket except when I needed to be suited and booted and I got on just fine with it in my jeans pocket. There is no getting away from it being a big bugger, very similar to the S8+, but it's perfectly manageable imho. If you've read my android opinions in the past , you'll know this is somewhat of a conversion!!

I have the Note 8 & yes its huge but not much more than my note 4 that it replaced. Screen is tremendous & the s pen has come on loads. Bixby is damn annoying though.

The below link comparison may help you decide. Whether the N8 fits Jean pockets depends on a lot. The type of jeans, body size/shape...... I recommend you try it in your jeans pocket.
Keep in mind the technical upgrades you get with the N8. 6GB Ram instead of 4GB New dual camera experience. SPen In my personal opinion, if you aren't going to make use of the SPen, save your money and get the S8+. Keep in mind in about 5 months (likely) the S9 will be announced or released. So don't over spend then have buyers remorse in a few short months.... https://www.androidcentral.com/galax...-galaxy-note-8

But I decided to get the S8+ instead once I had the chance to physically compare both phones. From the price difference for the two, I could not see why I would pay 2-3x more for the Note 8 over the S8+. The 6GB vs 4GB ram is not noticeable. The camera is better on the Note 8 but not worth the huge price tag. IMO, if the Note 8 was 3-400$ less, than I would've probably bought it instead, but right now, its way overpriced.

Just putting it out there - I grabbed an LG G6 brand new for £350 a few weeks ago from EGlobalCentral.
By far the best bang for buck out there for a new flagship phone, which is only 6 months old but now less than half the price than new - beautiful small bezels, 64gb, quad-DAC audio, USB-C, 4GB RAM, 2k screen, great battery life, waterproof, fingerprint sensor is well placed and no stupid Bixby button (Samsung!). I came to the conclusion that an S8+ or Note 8 weren't close to being worth more than twice the price. |

That note looks huge! You won't even be able to reach the stupidly placed fingerprint scanner. I have the regular S8, and this is my biggest complaint, fingerprint scanner location.

I can reach the sensor easily, but it's very hard to locate accurately as it's too close to the camera lens. Between the S8+ and N8 there is nothing significant in it, size wise. I find the stylus incredibly useful, so I'm pleased I plumped for the note. Agree with all who say it's a hell of a lot of money though, especially as Samsungs don't hold value as well as iPhones afaik. ETA - I still should have agreed that the note looks (and is) huge, it's just odd how quickly it seems normal.

I just watched a YouTube video last night called Don't buy the note8. He basically loved the note but said at the end of the day the s8+ is virtually the same size, has a bigger battery and much cheaper. You'll not use the pen I doubt.

I have note 8. Great phone, comming from note 3. The improved s pen so clever when using it, the extra menus you get when an app detected s pen is very productive, for example I can hover over an email get preview pop up and menu to reply, all, delete and etc.. this is all without opening the email.
The quality feel of the phone also is better than s8+ It is the best screen, unbeatable in the sun, it's brighter than s8+ Software is so good, Samsung apps and the OS has come a long way, people on XDA forum actually now stating that they dont feel a need to root of install another ROM any longer because the OS matured so well. The finger print sensor apparently also improved for accurate over s8+ and it's more outlined next to camera so it's easier to find it without touching the camera. The placement, well there are many haters but I find it perfect when holding the phone because index finger reaches it mutually. The 6GB of RAM does make difference and future proof, it's fast and smooth. Good luck Edit: forgot to say IRIS scanner is an addition on note 8 if you are into biometrics security Last edited by vadimo; 10-13-2017 at 08:00 AM.. |
