Anyone else into English shoes?
I've turned into a bit of a woman over shoes in recent years. I now spend as much time polishing them as I do my car. It has to be Northampton for me though. Anyone else like me?
These may well be my next purchase. |

If you can get genuine Chruch's for £150 a pair I'll buy them by the boat-load.

I've had a few nice pairs that I've collected over the years, but no particular fascination with English shoes. I still regularly wear pairs that I bought over 15 years ago, as I tend to look after them well and not wear each pair more than once every couple of weeks or so. I also have proper wooden shoe trees for the nicer ones.
Last year I also bought a shoe polishing machine to help with the elbow grease!

I've had a pair of Loake shoes for >15 years and they cost about £120 back then! Immense quality and would happily buy again. I have re-soles then only twice now I think too.

This thread should have stopped right there.
There are classic styles but fashion moves on very quickly. It's all very well having a classic car or vintage watch but a 10 year+ shoes are just old shoes. Personally, I think you can't beat a pair of classic Sambas. One to two pairs a year and they downgrade from new, to washing the car to gardening pair as they get replaced. |

Not in my experience and I have crockett and Jones. Church's and Edward Green are better. Crockett and Jones leather is as good a John Lobb however.
