Good luck.

Heard about a friend this evening, who's had to cross the Highlands this afternoon. Lots of problems and accidents due to the weather. Many of the incidents have been on/near my patch, within a few miles from my home.

Drive safely.
Well chaps, had no problems whatsoever. No snow at all (or even ice) where we went today (Coventry and Leicester). Although there were signs up saying severe weather tomorrow. Looks like I may have just missed it.

Looks like we are getting a lot of snow tomorrow (Sunday), so you visited the right place at the right time.

You’re definitely getting it tomorrow, a lot! We may or may not by the looks of it, part of me kind of wants it just so I can drive round in smugness on my winter tyres!

First proper dollop of snow for years here today and it's still going. Will do a short sighting lap in the 3er with new summer boots on later so could be fun!

Last time I drove a powerful rwd car in snow was my old tvr and that was great fun!

No problems for me Saturday morning. Compacted crunchy snow on the lanes but gentle inputs on throttle, steering and not much braking got me to treated roads.
So last night went to a do in the village and left my car there overnight.
Just got up to a proper covering 8" plus with drifts over a foot in many places.
So a 2 mile walk to the village (that should sort my thick head) to get the car and the best test of Michelin Aplins and rear drive for the hopefully short journey home.
Wish me luck

Can I ask some advice about pressures.

My F30 340i door card says that for 225/45 R18 M+S XL the normal pressures are 2.4 front and 2.6 rear.

My F30 330d xdrive said that for the same tyres the normal pressures were 2.8 and 3.0 (although I always ran them a bit lower than that).

Can it really be right that there is such a difference (both cars adaptive if that matters).

Thanks

2.4 & 2.6 are the minimal load pressures, I always go somewhere between the minimal & maximum load figures.

I get that, it's the difference between the two cars' minimum figures that was puzzling me.

Probably due to the extra weight of the diesel engine and Xdrive system, more pressure is required to achieve the same size contact patch.

Loads of snow here today (Staffs) no reason to go out today, so both cars left at home.

Out today with dog, loads of fun in the snow.

Popped to mates pub for some bacon n black pudding butties.

In until later tonight, then bit of a midnight walk in the snow covered field n woods.

Safe driving for those venturing out, remember it's those other fuckwits on the road that tend to cause the crashes and jams.

Your not wrong. Too much though to even attempt driving, and this was first thing this morning and it's set to snow all day.

Failed mission it's nuts out there. Roads not gritted and the 2 snow plows we saw were stuck behind stranded cars.

I had to get out and drive a woman's Audi q2 out of the road as she was stuck blocking the road and didn't know about disabling traction control etc.

A guy in a Merc was going no where and I saw at least 10 abandond cars.

Stay at home all.

Garage List
Shed load of snow here in Bham.

Daresay everything’s going to grind to a halt again. When the snow first fell on Friday it took me an hour and a half to do the last couple of miles home. Saw fake 4x4 s sliding all over the place ,spinning wheels on inclines.

Amazed at the stupidity and ignorance of some people out there. Blame Jeremy Clarkson with his “ MORE POWER” - after watching an Evoque and a Merc on an incline slipping and sliding all ove4 the place giving it more juice.

Can’t beat xdrive and winters.

Still got to be careful though.

That's properly North, where the real Scottish accent is to be heard!

I used to go to Fort William quite a bit with my sons, for the downhill biking (Them not me ... I walked up and down the track ;-))

The road from Edinburgh to Fort William via Tyndrum & Glencoe is absolutely amazing, with fantastic scenery and lots of fun sections.

I think the downhill biking was really helpful to Fort William, as it utilised the lifts etc. when the snow was lacking.

I had idiots talegate me several times yesterday I had to get them to move away from my rear end putting on my hazards and coming to a almost standstill and these idiots still not not understand. They were women drivers to my surprise. Why the need to tailgate in bad weather????

I'm very glad it's ok round here, just remembered I've got to do about 200 miles around Norfolk & Suffolk tomorrow! No way I could do that with what you guys have!

Only little drops of sleet and snow, 0C at the moment in Norfolk for teaston to test the winter tyres!
Just been out with my CrossClimate+ and they feel fairly safe and secure in the slush/ice. Norfolk County Council decided long ago that it isn't worth their trouble gritting the road in front us.
