70s ruled

I was born in 84 but should have been around in the 70s the music was just out of this world.

Hendrix, Sire Lord Baltimore, Cactus, Captain Beyond, Blue Cheer, Black Sabbath, Cream, Skynnard, Led Zepplin, Humble Pie, Vanilla Fudge, Grand Funk Railroad, Rory Gallagher, Boston, Mountain, Free, Thin Lizzy, Hawkwind, Motorhead, Jeff Beck, Leafhound..... and on and on

Love sitting with a bottle of wine listening to this stuff!

As a child of the 70's, it was possibly the last decade where you could have fun without too much worry.

Admittedly we did things you would get arrested for these days, you would never let your own kids do, totally UN PC shit.

Everyone had an air rifle, pistol, black widows, Dutch arrows, mass fights with other schools.

We tied one lad to a lamp post and charged people to feel his 'boob' (puberty is unkind to some boys lol'

We used to get on train with tent and head off to Hexham or up in to darkest Northumberland.

Dio is on now ...

It will then progress to music of my teens and I will be rocking out in the living room with a hangover tomorrow.

Rage Against the Machine, Deftones, Pantera, Nirvana, Melvins, Mudhoney, System of Down, Slipknot, Kyuss, Fu Manchu etc

I've still got air guns including a couple of replicas that come with a warning not to use/display in public places for fear of an armed response !

Not been banned have they??

I also miss the group B rally cars

Great list of bands and solo performers. While they were making music in the 70's, some of these names were going strong in the 60's. Vanilla Fudge, Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Blue Cheer for example. If you haven't done so, listen to some Iron Butterfly, Blood, Sweat, and Tears, The Who, Cream, the Doors, Steppenwolf, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Credence Clearwater, Buffalo Springfield, to get a taste of how good the late 60's were too. There were many others. I'll let other old timers fill in the blanks. It was a great time for music.

You missed out Carlos Santana, just exquisite with a relaxed mind and a cold beer.

Still have 3 air rifles, 2 PCP and one springer, plus an old GAT that sits in the bottom of a drawer in the mancave. That's not a typo, I mean GAT not GIT. The old git that sits in the mancave is me.

Back in the '60s we used to have "Western" style gunfighter shoot outs with air pistols and gang fights over the spoil heaps from the sand excavation pits, lucky we didn't put a few eyes out although we certainly had some close calls.

Remember all of these except Sire Lord Baltimore and Leafhound. Mountain are a great forgotten band. Would add Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Spirit, Allman Brothers, Van Der Graaf, Pink Fairies, Doctora of Madness and many more.

We made Gypsies arrows. Basically a lethal arrow made from a straight stick, with a nail in one end and flights. They were powered by wrapping a length of string around the top and down the shaft. We then flung it as hard as possible holding on to the string.

They went a good 200 feet and would drive hard into most things. Including the limbs of each other. Happy days.
