folding mirrors

I was thinking about having my car fold its side view mirrors every time I locked the car and unfold when I unlock it. Does this cause problems down the line to the mirror? Anyone have this feature with any insight?

I have never had issues with them.

You do use them a lot more but I have been using this feature for years.

I had this feature on two others BMW's and I am about to get this set up on this one!

As stated above I haven't seen any issues with it. I had it on my e90 and am getting it coded today on my F30. I am sure there is more wear on the mirror motor, but I almost always do it when I get out of the car anyway, I don't foresee any problems...I think this is a standard feature in Europe.

Can this feature be coded to cars that don't have comfort access?

Yes

My car does not have comfort. But it does have the manual fold button inside the car next to the mirror adjustment. I think as long as you have that button inside your car it can be programmed to fold with your fob.

Yes it's standard here in UK, a slightly longer press on the fob when locking the car causes folding. They then unfold on unlocking.

It's a common mod to get that feature coded in. Many on this forum have done it. Personally, I think that it's a good idea to keep the mechanism working. Helps to keep parts lubricated and in working order.
