F32 rear diffuser - paint vs unpainted?

Have ordered a genuine m performance diffuser. Trying to decide if I should have it painted with the centre a satin black or leave it unpainted?

Anyone got pictures of one fitted to a Mineral grey painted and non painted?

I'm pondering the same thing with my F30 defuser. I currently have it unpainted on my mineral grey car.

i say paint it all gloss black, or all mineral grey (incl. center), or mineral grey with gloss black center.

what ever the part is i like it painted so i can treat it as such when detailing the car. i can't stand black plastic bumpers and trim that need to be treated with plastic detailer to maintain it's look. it's so much easier to detail a painted surface with the rest of the car. that's just me, though.

That's not a good look. That full on orange on that car seems out of place, car is not aggressive looking to pull it off imo.

Doesn’t look bad at all non painted on this:

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/att...1&d=1466598944

But as said it’s easy to manage with it painted. Satin black should work ok.

Another thing you can consider is having it hydrodipped in carbon fiber. I tend to be a fan of the carbon fiber/mineral grey look.

Smile

okay so super duper dirty - construction in our building and going into the body shop next week (3 mph parking lot bumper thumper - not my fault)

disclaimers aside - i love gloss black with my MG (I know you asked about satin) -
I have oem front lower lip - side skirt extensions and my rear bumper (pictured here as you asked) in gloss black - mirrors as well - so is my grill and when the body shop is done with my car (heck if it has to go in gotta do something) i'm trying the roof in gloss black as well - anyhoo here are some (dirty) pics

Hope this helps

ps-my car came from the factory with non painted front M Lip which I had removed and painted after delivery....at the same time I added the rear and sides

Paint it and leave the center gloss black. This is typically how BMW displayed this part.

if you are surely going to paint it, don't put anything. just keep it clean with soap and water for the time being. avoid using waxes, oils, silicones, etc. as they can cause paint flaws, such as "fisheyes", even after the prepped surface has been cleaned thoroughly.

This is mine..

I'm actually planning on doing the the very edge and thins pin stripped in body colour at some point.. I also saw an F32 diffuser with black squares wrapped near the air ducts, this may be a future plan too, I believe it was done by the same guys that wrapped my roof.

Well it probably doesn't need to be painted but if it remains unpainted how painful is it to keep in good condition ?

just using your favorite plastic trim protectant should be fine.

If you get fisheyes than it wasn’t prepped thoroughly or you didn’t use a filter between your airhose and spraygun, or you contaminated the surface after the prepwork.

Pinged them out and painted them myself, I have a spare set that I pop in during MOT's however.

I should also add, get a warranty on whatever you have painted. Next to the left exhaust tailpipe my paint has bubbled and peeled back exposing raw plastic. I presume this is from when I just has SS tips and it's caused the paint to melt, luckily for me though it's underneath the car so it's not too visible

Have ordered an OEM M Performance diffuser for my F36
Am getting it painted Carbon Black to match the bodywork, apart from the fin area which I'm leaving unpainted. Cheapest quote for painting was from BMW dealer, much to my surprise

Is your rear bumper m performance? Mine on 435i coupe seem to look quite different. Do you know the part number for that bumper+where I can get the same diffuser?

Thanks!

EDIT: Mine is not mtech... (( Bummer!

I have the M Perf OEM rear diffuser on mine unpainted and coated with Nanolex Trim Rejuvenator which gives it a lovely deep lustre
Didn't go for the painted option in the end having seen it on another car

Which skirt is that? I keep seeing it but they do not appear to fit F32. Do I need to have an M package for it to fit?
