F31 + Dinan Exhaust?

Is anyone here running the Dinan exhaust on their F31? Any drone issues?

Thanks!

i have it(dinan) on my F36 N20 ZF8 (Auto) and it drones at certain low rpm (1300, 1700, 2400) under load. other than that, i think it sounds pretty decent however it does not have the "snap, crackle, pop" that most people like.

if i were to do it again, i'd get the single side twin pipe or quad pipe offering from AWE or the M-Performance.

I have it on my 2018 330i f31 (b46 engine) and the drone under load at 2500-3000 rpm is quite bad. I'm currently looking at different options.

MPE doesn't sound great I removed mine. For the F31 it's pretty much AWE or stock - I'm planning to try AWE next they're local too.

Hey BEM-S4, are you running a stock downpipe? I'm installing a catless ER dp tomorrow on my 2018 F31. I'll also be taking off the Dinan exhaust (because of the aforementioned drone), and putting the stock exhaust back on. If this doesn't achieve the sound I'm looking for (nothing too crazy, but some burbles/pops), I'll look into the AWE axle-back to pair with the ER dp.

Cheers!

Stock DP. Just FYI I spoke with AWE at length one day, they said doing a downpipe and exhaust on the wagon is not what they'd recommend... at least for what I was trying to accomplish. Recommended sticking with just exhaust.

Okay, thanks for that. The downpipe is on my workbench, so I'm somewhat committed at this point. Hopefully the dp/stock exhaust combo will work out okay. If not, these will have been some expensive lessons to learn

Also, if you do end up with the AWE exhaust, would you mind posting a review? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Cheers

No problem, may not be for a while though. I barely drive that car. That said I'll check with them again since the exhaust has been cut for MPE it's 2 mins to try out a new option. If they get a return or something I'll head up there to test fit it and see how it sounds.

I am not sure what you all are talking about or why I am commenting on a 3 year old thread, but I have a Dinan axle back on my 2013 328i (n20), plus catless downpipe and it sounds great, with zero Drone.

Well, Dinan muffler + stock everything else sounds great but drones on a F31. Both of our statements can be factual.

What does AWE or any manufacturer for that matter do with the exhaust flap? Is it deleted? If so do you get a light on your dash? New to all this.

I have a F31 (B46 engine) with the Dinan exhaust (axle-back). I'm also running a Dinan tune and BMS CAI. I've never considered it to have any real annoying drone. There's perhaps some lower rpm notes that one might feel are drone-like, but rarely anything at cruising rpm.

Depends. MPE you use the module. AWE they have a mounting bracket for it to keep it out of the way but it doesn't actually do anything. Same for Remus I think. Some like Dinan they actually instruct you to zip tie the module inside your bumper, lazy design choice IMO.

Regardless the module is plugged with no lights on dash.

Like Malloy, I find that my axle-back Dinan exhaust drones terribly under load between ~2400-3000 RPM. I have a 2018 330i F31 (B46 engine). I've just added an Evolution Racewerks catless downpipe. It's a bit louder, and drone is essentially the same.

I'm considering either an AWE axle-back, or a muffler delete and j-pipe or Hermann Holtz resonator.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone has a recommendation for an exhaust setup. I want something more aggressive with maybe more pops but no drone. Just got an ‘18 330i touring and looking for ideas. Thanks.

Begin with a downpipe upgrade first. If you need more, starting working on the other exhaust pieces.
