just bought real 437m wheels - now the tires
Hi guys - hoping for some help. I have a 340i xdrive due at dealer in a month. I also just found the dream wheel I have been lurking over on the M3 classified section to purchase and I bought what I think are a set in great shape for a pretty good price. The seller has them wrapped in blizzak winter rubber that I cant use because they are not the same diameter front to rear and thats not cool with the xdrive. So here is what I'm thinking - and I want to start by adding that I am not lowering the car but would like to try a slightly larger tire than stock - meaning diameter from top of the tire to bottom obviously the rim is 19 inches and thats not changing- to fill the wheel well a tad more as the stock fender gap on the xdrive is a bit more than I like.
so here is my idea : first - the wheels: 437m wheel - Front 9JX19 ET:29 rear 10JX19 ET:40 take the new 437s and mount F: 245/40/19; R: 275/35/19. These wheels are roughly 0.8 inches wider than stock and 0.6 inches taller. Based on the pics of cars from guys using the 437m I think it should fit but the question for the tire gurus here is do they think this combo of tire and wheel fit under the fenders of the new 340i xdrive. Thanks! Edit: another thought was to go with this combo: 225/45/19 F 255/40/19 R This gives me a half in more sidewall and a slightly skinnier tire than the above sizes (but same width as stock). So the tires can use some of the extra sidewall to stretch onto the rim, especially the front. Which should make it fit better under the fender. Any thoughts out there? OK - no rsponses -- gonna ask a different question and maybe its a little weird. If I get no responses I'll post in general as I think it will get a rise out of the forumites:
What if I put a square tire set up on staggered rims? For example If I put 245/40/19s on the 437m wheels which are F 9x19; R 10x19. Those tires are 9.6 inches wide so I think they will fit on both rims - is this a crazy idea? At this size there are a great many choices. Not so much at other size choices. Thoughts? |

As for square setup, as you are determined to run A/S tires, a square setup would be better for the Winter months than a staggered setup...or should I say, no more crazier than running All Seasons year round. |
