Is your car still improving with miles?

Just wondering how people are finding their cars change over the first two or three thousand miles.

My 330d felt pretty good from the start, but I've really noticed it loosening up and feeling more willing and eager on the throttle since I got well past 2,000 miles. Feels like it might still be loosening up.

Mine's done about 1700 miles, and yes I do think it's loosening up, particularly in Sport mode. I'm loving the smoothness of it; it doesn't snap your head back like my 335d, nor provide the soundtrack of my 135i; but it is a magnificent engine in its own right Still very happy with mine, usually at this stage I'm wishing I'd got something faster; but for what I want from my car now, it's pretty much perfect! I'd class it as the best all-round car I've owned

So mark how does it compare to your 335d, is it as fast but just less dramatic or does it feel slower?

Nipping around below 60 I don't think there's much in it, the 335d perhaps edged/felt like it edged it a bit; if flooring it it doesn't feel as fast though, it doesn't snap your head back like the 335d did. But, the figures put the 0-60 of the 330d as faster than my 335d which was pre-ED so was I think 6.1 secs to 60, vs 5.6 for the 335.

I think it's mainly just perception; I think if you put the 335d and the F30 330d side by side, there'd be absolutely nothing in it. But the lack of that initial pushing you back in your seat, due to the higher torque of the 335d, and the lower/wider rev range the peak torque is at, make you *think* it's slower! And I guess it's only that feeling, and how you feel about the car, that matters; but it's not night and day. The 330d is much faster than I was expecting, and I'm happy with it

As my 335D was remapped I find the F30 330D definitely feels slower. It doesn't feel any quicker than the CLS350 CDi I had in between either.

Hopefully it will get better with more miles. Only on 2200 at the moment.

Garage List
Just cracked 10K miles and apart from a whiney gearbox in reverse, I'd say I'm pleased with the way the engine & transmission is behaving

Sounds like most of the loosening up is done by around 2,000 miles - and if it takes more, then more good stuff to come.

Not surprised by comments re the F30 330d not being quite as quick as E90 335d - I drove my mates one quite a bit and it has more bottom end and more top end than my car. Feels like there's nothing in it at full tilt in the mid range though. What I love about the twin turbo is that you have real go from 1,000 rpm.

Guess a mapped 335d would leave an F30 330d for dead - heard well-respected tuners getting 330 BHP and shedloads of torque.

I can't wait for the 440d to come out. Bet that will upset a lot of sports car owners and it will have serious grunt at almost any rpm.
