Am I the only one who can't tell the difference between these two colors? I parked my 2013 328i next to my friends 2013 M5. His color code is B50/5 and mine is B45 but ill be damned if I can tell the difference between the two in direct sunlight from any angle. Anyone have any insight?

EDIT: Monte Carlo Blue vice Monaco Blue

I think you're the only one. Monaco is a dark, almost black/blue, and Estoril is very bright. No comparison. Monte Carlo Blue is almost identical to Estoril though.

Are you sure your friend's M5 isn't Monte Carlo Blue, a standard M5 color?

The differences between MCB and EB are minor, but they're there. I saw my old MCB M3 next to an Estoril E36, and Estoril is a lighter color. MCB is a deeper, darker blue, but not by a large amount.

Before I sold my MCB M3, I took pictures of my future EB F30's painted reflectors against the MCB M3:

I appreciate the picture but tough(for my eye) to discern a difference.

i get that there might be some minor difference but you can hold that reflector up to the car until the moon falls from the heavens and I still wont see a difference.

Unfortunately, photos cannot do EB MB & MCB justice.
Reaching the limit of colour gamut that many cameras are capable of.
The eye is much more discernible.

I get that and have yet to see a photo of EBII that looks as good as it does in the metal but as I've seen both colors side by side in sunlight and in the shop and can't tell, I submit there isn't much is difference. I know that EBII is made up of 7 different PPG colors and was hoping someone with paint knowledge knew the % of colors used on both so as to quantify a/any difference. "The eye" is subjective...

I definitely have seen a difference, albeit small, and I've seen both colors side-by-side on several occasions. I took the following pic a while ago, and it shows the difference I've been talking about:

-MCB is a deeper, darker blue
-Estoril is lighter with a slight purple hue

Where do you find that info and percentage mixes?

I am really curious. I work in imaging and cameras, and this is just fascinating to me how we would be able to characterize the reflectance of each color combination. Any reference/link?

That information I obtained between me and a contact who works for an international paint company.
Only I can say that cost me a lot of work
I can not give more details because, would put at risk the work of my contact.
