Just attempted my first go at the coding this morning and I couldn't get the cable to bring up a connection. Not sure if it's the cable, how do I check to see if it's working correctly? Is anyone coding in the Los Angeles Area?

None of the coding changes worked, but everything in the car still works as far as I can tell, but I can't get back into FEM_BODY now since it renamed itself to CAFD_FFFFFFFF_255_255_255 (the original name was cafd_00000794-002_020_029). This was done using ver 46.6 of PSDZdata posted today. 46.3 didn't have the cafd_00000794-002_020_029 file. John ****Update**** I just figured out how to fix it. Check out the attached PDF for instructions. ****Update #2**** I just went back and coded the mirrors and Auto Start Stop and it was successful this time. I think I took too long the first time and the car turned off before or during the CODE FDL portion. Last edited by John001; 07-14-2012 at 01:21 PM.. Reason: Found solution |

I'm in Ventura County which is sort of in the "LA" area. I've done about 5 coding sessions without any issues. |

Folks,
Has anyone encountered an issue where e-sys couldn't find the proper CADF file for FEM_BODY? I've successfully coded my March build 335i Sportline. Yesterday, I met up with two guys from the forum, and helped them code their car (using my laptop and cable). One was a 335 and the other a 328. The 335: - connected fine - read the ECU fine - Failed when trying to "Read coding data" from the CADF under FEM_BODY - interestingly enough, other modules read fine The 328 - Connected fine - read the ECU fine - loaded coding data fine - changed values fine - when attempted to do the final "code", it failed in the end. Something about not being able to execute the CADF (unfortunately I don't have the exact error) Some notes: - I ran the app with admin privileges (originally I thought it might be a permission issue) - I've successfully coded my car in the past without a hitch - My guess is there are new and different versions of the data files? Thoughts? Thanks in advance. |

John001,
It is great that you figured out how to solve your problem and even better that you documented it so clearly for the rest of us. Thanks! I'm waiting for my first BMW, and we just got our Performance Center Delivery date set for August 16th. But I'm all ready to do the coding, including cable in hand. |

Does manufactured date matter?
I am going to attempt to code a very-late-date MY12 F30 (made 6/2012). I doubt anyone coding has one of these F30s yet. If you do, please let us know how it went.
But I wanted to know if anyone has seen a problem with the 46.3 psdzadata that svache was successful with in a more recent F30 (recent in terms of manufacturing date). The people discussing 46.6 aren't talking about F30s but it seems some other F series cars are sensitive to the level of psdzdata by manufacturing date. That makes sense to me: ideally one would match the files to the car precisely. I don't have a car (yet) to see how this works, but if anyone can share their experiences, I would appreciate it.

If you click on the network icon and then click on details, does it show an IP address? It should be 169.254.x.x which means Windows assigned an address. If not, then you may have a bad cable. Other things: 1. Is the ignition on? 2. Did you do the ZGW_SEARCH.exe command first? 3. Did you select F020? 3. Did you select connection via VIN? Good luck. PM me if you want more help. |

With the 46.6 files I could successfully code FEM_BODY. Something that didn't work with 46.3. As reported before by others.
Other modules worked with 46.3 before. So I'm happy and finally have my car the way I want it. Thanks to all making this possible. |

I just used 46.6 to successfully code FEM_BODY and REM to areas I could not code before with 46.3. Now my rear daytime running lights stay on during the day.
Thanks! |

It is quite conceivable this is v.46.6 and still I-Level F010_12_03_512, but if that is the case, since we are seeing new F10's having even newer CAFD files (e.g. CIC CAFD file cafd_000000f9.caf.007_002_157) than what is in this new release (e.g. CIC CAFD file cafd_000000f9.caf.007_002_006), it would indicate that there exists a version somewhere, perhaps in Munich only, that is higher than this release, maybe the rumored v.47.x.
