If you ever have the chance to visit Munich, I recommend taking the plant tour. It's very cool to see the manufacturing process and definitely worth the time.

Trunk opening arms ?!
EDIT: I was wrong and that's a good thing.
Oh no, maybe I'm all wrong, but they modified the trunk opening arms, now like in most cars where you cannot fill completly the trunk without having to deal with the two trunk opening arms Good luck packing stuff for 2 adults and 2 children for a weekend trip in a F30... I do this all the time in my e92... F30 EDIT: Image of the finished trunk E90 Last edited by Kalud; 10-28-2011 at 12:51 PM.. Reason: I was wrong :) Added image of finished F30 trunk |

I hate cost savings like this. That's one of the small touches on the E90 that shows its a well thought-out piece of engineering. Using what works best, not what costs the least. |

However, the cut line has nothing to do with the pedestrian safety, rather due to aerodynamics (so airflow doesn't go under the hood as easily as it does on the current car. Look at the CX of 0.26 - that's VERY sleek for a production car, the E90 was 0.29 I think, or something.

Please explain. It's easy to see how the hood could have been extended all the way to the kidney grills while still retaining the same overall shape/silhouette as the current bisected hood line. How does splitting it like that make it safer for pedestrians?
