Aftermarket Upholstery: Does anybody do this?

I know people who have added aftermarket leather, arranged through the dealer, on cars where leather was only available as part of a package of stuff they didn't want.

Anybody doing this on a 3er? Leather or fabric mix?

Probably not the input you were looking for but,

If I were to do anything significantly aftermarket with the interior, I'd have the OEM alacantra seats ordered overseas and shipped to the US.

You did read my mind. I can't bring myself to order stock 3er leather and really like the alacantra look but it's not in my DNA to spent stupid money on a car that already specs out at ~$55k msrp. You know the alacantra price, installed?

My alternative was a high quality, rich brown leather on top of a black/black 335. That would get me better leather without having to deal with a 2-tone dashboard (which looks like shit IMO). $2k +/- wound be fine.

That's actually what I am looking for!

Specifically, I have a black dash. I want a saddle brown dash - after the fact!!

Help?!

Dealers that do this simply send the cars to local upholstery shops. You can do the same thing and get anything your heart desires. Likely cheaper than buying OE upholstery too.

What car are you talking about? Non-luxury 3ers and 4ers have a black lower dash.

Huh? Brown lower dash? Mine has a black lower dash. I might have missed a particular color scheme..but certainly not all 4ers have a lower brown dash.
