i financed the entire vehicle with only 1500 down through BMW. it sometime could be the reason why they make the sale with you as well. if they almost break even on the car and make some interest on you, they will sell the car. if you are not going to finance a lot, it wont even matter to you. just pay it off quicker. if you can generate more than the interest rates that they offering you by investing or doing something else, keep your cash. don't trust them when they said their financing rates are fixed either. they told me 2.99% initially. we eventually settled 1.99%. the finance guy was nice enough to tell me about the rebates since i came in a BMW and also offered me free LoJack.

It always pays off to check rates. My loan is through BMW @ 3.9% but my CU had 2.9% so the dealer came down another $500 on the sale price after we had already agreed on a price so my payments would be the same and I would finance through BMW. What they didn't know is that my CU refinances auto loans so after a years worth of payments I will refinance the loan at a lower rate and have a lower payment without extending the term of the original loan.

Be careful with BMW dealers, they are shysters. I went in and worked out a deal for my wife's car told them exactly what we wanted, my wife went into sign that evening, I looked at the contract the following day and they added a $2600 maintenance agreement and changed the 3 year extended warranty to a 4 year for another scam of $1100. Do not trust these crooks!

I financed my last two E90s from BMWFS. I have no complaints here and the rate wast at 1.9%. My new car, the dealer decided to finance through Citizens because of cheaper rates. (They said BMWFS has crazy high rates right now).

My credit union Wescom currently offers 2.49% APR as of 12/3/12. BMW FS 3.29% + 1500 rebate. Wescom CU is better.

0% APR only applies to certain series, and never to M models. The lowest interest rate I got from BMW for an M was 2.9%. I just financed my new M5 with the 3.29% rate since nothing lower was available.

Much better lease than what was available from US Bank and such. I always go through BMWFS.

Never happened to me in over 10 years of buying BMWs. Of course can't speak for what happened to you, but I have dealt with 4 different BMW dealers and always got the deal that was pre-arranged.

Not saying it doesn't happen though...you are right.."the devil is in the details."

It sounds like your wife bought the extra coverage, and signed the contract. Im sure she read the contract before signing. It sounds like you have been taken before at a dealership, dont let one bad experience cause you to believe that everyone is out to get you. Remember car dealers are in business to make profits, just ike every business you patronize, so ease up a little. If your wife bought the extra coverage so be it. Happy wife happy life. I doubt the extra money drastically changed your lifestyle.

Good idea Dave, when you continue to finance through BMW FS you continue to reap returning customer benifits. Like the pull ahead for your lease, combined with lease loyalty and other various rate reductions. The money you would have saved at US Bank you would lose on the next purchase.

0.9% on a 08 M3 from BMW Canada back in 2008. Anyone beats that on a M car?
