I'm selling my 2014 F30 which was one of the M Performance limited edition cars in 2014. The car came loaded with most of the M Performance parts from the factory including front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser, and 20" wheels. It also has the MPPK, M Performance exhaust and M Adaptive suspension. Other goodies include 3M protection up front, 35% formula tints, gloss black grills and 18" matte black M5 replica wheels wrapped in Blazzak's for winter.
Car is black sapphire on black leather and has the 8spd auto. It was purchased new by me from Budd's in Feb 2014. No accidents and I haven't had any issues with the car at all. I am located in Toronto. The car is awesome and a lot of fun to drive. It's also very efficient and makes a great daily driver. Current km's 25,000 Asking $56,900 PM if interested. Car is now listed on lease busters: http://www.leasebusters.com/en/details.asp?ID=178582 UPDATE: I'll be taking delivery of my F82 at the end of the month so I've dropped the asking price to $56,900 and I'm offering a $3K incentive for lease takeover. $66K (incl. prem, exec and M performance II) ... if include other minor options, probably topped out at around $67.5K
So, in other words, OP is asking about $54K + HST. |

No, OP is asking for 61k, not 54k plus HST because we don't pay tax to the owner on Resales. We pay tax when we register the car on person to person sales. Which makes his asking price enormously overpriced is what I'm saying. If its 66k then let's use average depreciation of 20% after a year (reasonable since he drove it 20k). This would have us down to somewhere around 53k. This car might be sold at a dealer for 61k but for a private sale its way over priced. A good way to do a private sale is tack on 5% on what a dealer would offer you on a trade in to be competitive. Theres no way its moving for this price. It'll just sit in his garage for a year and further depreciate.

I know that .. but do you actually think the car only depreciated by $5K ?? with 22K on the clock.
I am just putting this as an alternative perspective view ... $12K depreciation he is deducting from the new car price ($66 - $54) for one year of usage ... and OP is then trying to recover the taxes portion as if he was to trade in this car for a new one. That's why I am putting a alternative view of $54K + HST = $61K asking price. I know the end buyer will pay whatever and when he goes to register the car, he will be paying the taxes on top. Agree. with that asking price ... GL to OP. Last edited by bobblehead; 02-27-2015 at 12:22 PM.. |

I remeber OP LAST year on autotrader at like almost 70k right after he purchased it. I msged him asking him if he was serious... he said naw and decided to keep it. I just think OP is still in the same boat as last year where he doesn't really know if he wants to sell it or not and has priced himself OUT of the market accordingly.

I don't think what I'm asking is that far off from what someone would pay a dealer for the same car. I have my dealer ready to run the sale through them and also add cert series if the purchaser is interested so there are some other details to work out but I realize I will likely have to give a little.
This is the first time the car has been listed so I think Earthmaster is confusing me with someone else, unless he's referring to the car I sold last January but that was an F10 550i which I was asking $69 and sold for close to asking. Anyway I have an F82 incoming so it has to go! |

If you going to trade it in, i suspect dealer will give you around $48.5k + tax = $55k total for it. Then the dealer is going to turn around and list it for about $58k + taxes as cpo

There's a BMW dealer in BC that's selling a 2014 335i M Performance with only 10k KM for $56,900. That was also about the same as the one that a local BMW dealer here in Vancouver was selling with double the mileage for about the same price too.
While it's a different market out West here, historically prices for cars are higher here than it is in the East |

Not trying to sink your post OP, but I paid close to what your asking for my '14 Mperf...brand new. From same dealer. And the black grills came with this specific configuration of the car. Notice in a couple of posts you purport to have added them? Also had mine for a year (17K kms) and also thinking of swapping for an F80 (wasn't available when I got this one). Luckily mine is leased and I got a good deal so I shouldn't have trouble getting it lease busted, but if I had to sell, I wouldn't see getting much more than 55K for it. Someone up there ^^ was also correct in stating that the buyer THEN has to pay Ontario Government the RST (Retail Sales Tax of 13%) on the purchase price or wholesale price (Red Book) of the car (whichever is greater):
http://www.fin.gov.on.ca/en/tax/rst/ But hey...it's a free market. You can ask whatever price you want. If your serious about selling, you'll likely have to lower it. LSB |

Sorry OP maybe I was mistaken but last year somebody with the EXACT same car/color/rims posted on autotrader with huge markup. I personally don't understand why if your serious about selling a car post way above market asking prices. This will just deter people actually that want to buy the car away from even asking about it. In the end you will have to lower it anyways might so whats the point. If your not serious about the sale then I can see limiting it to only people that REALLY want the car. To me it makes no sense.

OP: Good luck, you'll eventually get a bite.

tax on used car sales
Quote:
In my opinion, it is simply a cash-grab by Provincial Governments to charge tax to people on used vehicles where taxes have already been paid on that vehicle (on it's first purchase), but, taxes are not fair or logical by nature, I suppose. https://www.carproof.com/resource-ce...-used-car-sale |
