Bad Decision, I will pay for this.

I really wanted to like my new 328, but honestly I just cant. I miss and i know appreciate my 330xi so much more.

I ordered and installed bms stage 1 and probably will do stage 2 since ill be stuck with this car for another 3 years at least.

I like the looks of it, but that awesome bmw feeling is gone. I am beating a dead and decomposed horse, but i feel ashamed of having made this mistake. I should have waited and bought a 335 and maybe i would have felt better.

You that you are considering the new 328 and are used to the 6 cylinder smoothness and sound, solidity and steering/handling please look else where.

I might change my mind down the road, (i doubt it) i am even considering trading or selling it privately, i am honestly mad at my self, i feel like i spent more to go back, i feel like i drive a - a less expensive car, built with lower quality standards. I know this is going to make a lot of people mad, and believe me, if you like the car just remember this is my personal opinion, so i am not trying to offend you.

I just had to vent out.

I understand your dilemma. Maybe you can trade up for a 335i without losing much.

how long have you had it? I went from an e90 335 to an F30 335 and was underwhelmed at first by the handling at first though it felt much improved in the power delivery department (lots of credit to the transmission; I can't shift that fast plus 8 gears is more suited to the motor than 6).

4 months on and I'm really digging the handling of the car. It is just and nimble and planted as the E90 it just feels different. More subtle, but ultimately more sharp. I drove my buddies E90 and it felt like I was tugging the titanic around. In fact, I think I like it more than my '08 135 which was hands down better than my E90 in overall handling and feel.

Solution: Test drive a few times before you sign on a dotted line.

Since you are already cancelling the warranty on some parts, you may want to look at what's available in terms of aftermarket coilovers etc.

What is it exactly that you miss about your old 330xi? Your F30 328i should be just as fast and powerful as any 330, so can you actually feel 4-cyl vs. 6?

Or is it the Lexus-like lack of road feel that many have complained about the F30 compared to previous models? If that's the case, I'm not sure that upgrading to the 335 will help all that much.

And while you say you don't want to offend anyone, you might consider refraining from using the derogatory/racist term "cheap jap".

+ 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 on the derogatory term. I hope you are stuck with that car for 10+ years.

You drive an E46 330i? I owned two E46s--2002 325i and 2006 M3. There is no lack of road feel in my F30 335i pal.

exactly why I test drove the 328 first, then the 335. Afterwards there was just no way anyone could talk me into the 328. I had to listen to my GF nag about how much more I spent and how she couldn't tell the difference for weeks afterwards LOL.

I don't understand why or how you're "stuck with this car for another 3 years at least." Will your parents not let you sell it?

I test drove 7 cars before I placed an order. All of them were either 328i or 335i with varied packages and couple of options.

I was coming from the NA6 E90 and noticed how much I would regret getting the N20/N26 engine. So far so good, but even the N55 is perhaps going to smooth out a little more, with break-in. I do miss the linear response of the NA engine even at present.

Find out what you can do without taking a significant financial hit. I understand how annoying it can be. Small mistake compared to what all there is in life.

Take it easy bro!

If you say you made a wrong/bad decision what's the alternative? I don't see any. If you could start over, what would you get? 335i is not going to give you steering or handling which you mentioned.

Maybe the 2 series will be an alternative. While I agree the F30 has only about 50% of the feel of the E90, I still don't see Audis and Mercs matching that feel.

What exactly is it that compels people to post this crap on forums? I really wish I had ordered a vanilla shake instead of this chocolate shake. I should go tell the world and convince them not to make the same mistakes I have. I suck at life.

OP, you wave 3 options. Take a bath on a trade-in, learn to like your car or me miserable for next 2-3 years.

I have to say one thing - i truly apologize if i have offended anyone with the term "cheap Jap" - I meant a cheaper japanese/korean made car, or for that matter a cheaper made american car.

I want to explain why:

1) Wind noise is very noticeable in highway speeds
2) The doors seem very light and shut differently than the previous version
3) Material used in interior seem a little cheaper
4) Under carriage exhaust position and mount remind me of a less expensive car
5) Yes the 4 cylinder noise just doesn't feel right

I say it again, it is my opinion and again i truly feel that i misused the above mentioned words.

I said i want to keep the car for three years to make some financial sense, and no im not in college, but i have to think about my kids going to college soon

I have some h&r springs coming and I already spoke to Mike about a stage 2 upgrade since i have a e85 gas station down the road from my house. So hopefully that will "fix" some of the, on my opinion, shortcomings.

i actually test drove the car twice, and even though i was a little concerned about the noise of the 4 cylinder, i put my faith into bmw like i did in the past, and I thought i was just being silly, since in europe 4 cylinder cars are 90% of the market.

I had a e90 330xi. You are right, maybe the 335 non xdrive w sport is a totally different car.

I understant your point and makes sense, there are bigger things in life, if i have to I will suck up the cost of my mistake =) or ill learn to like it!

I am not here to post crap, and I am sorry you feel that way. Sometimes you express your opinion with people that can relate, to find solutions to a problem, contribute or to get advice. It can be that maybe i should live with this car a little longer.

anyways, with that said, i am glad to be part of this forum and i appreciate the feedback, both good and bad, its monday..lets try to be cooperative
