Is this really BMW service for you?

Start/Stop issue on my brand new 335i which wasn't taken care of at VDC.

Send it in to service complete with service bulletin number.

I've driven 1,200 miles on the car and it has maybe happened twice. SA is telling me that they cannot do anything to the car until they can duplicate the issue...

They send me the most base possible 328i as a service loaner... Ugh...

Are they going to drive 600 miles on the thing to figure out the issue that is already there?

The Auto Start/Stop software fix is only applicable to 335s produced from 11/2/2011 to 2/29/2012. Does your call fall within this date range?

No, however, it is the same damn issue. Exactly as described. They can fix the car, but they must "replicate" the issue.

Had I known it was going to be this big of an issue, I would have lived with it.

3 days without my car and it will be at least 5...

First day - Trying to duplicate it followed by me telling them to just fix the car per the service bulletin.

Second day - "My" mechanic is sick. Call SA... SA says that they got approval from BMW but the mechanic won't be in again until Monday so I have to wait until at least then..

No biggie; you have a loaner to explore and they are taking reasonable steps to address the issue.

Somewhat surprisingly it takes a number of hours to do the software update. It is non-trivial. Be forewarned that you will lose your radio presets and a few other settings in the process unless you have enverything backed up in a profile.

I traded in my 2006 E90 for this... and now I'm back in a 2011 e90 328i that smells like mustard on the inside.

Me thinks thou dost protesteth too much.

They can't know what's causing the problem if they cannot replicate it. And it's not in your best interest for them to go use a trial and error approach to figure it out. If you can identify the circumstances that effect the issue (first start of the day, or after the car has sat in the sun for a long time, only after it rains or has been very humid, for example), they may be able to take some action.

So, you bought a 335, and you snub your nose at 328 loaner? I really don't mind it the least when they do that, regardless of which of my cars I bring in for service. It's certainly preferable to them directing me to the Enterprise rental counter in in the showroom because the dealer has run out of loaner cars. The dealers give loaners so that you still have your own means of transportation. Whatever other "duties" your 335 performs is of no concern to them, nor should it be.

I'm very satisfied with my dealer's service and loaner car policies. Indeed, as go the loaners, mainly just to see what they were like, I've asked for and received a 1er, 6er and 7er; however, most commonly, I receive a 328. Life could be far rougher those few days during which I have to drive the 328.

BTW, did you ask if they had something other than a base 328 available, or did you just think your global celebrity was enough for them to know you don't care for base 328s?

Plus keep in mind many dealerships don't even give out loaners at all, which sucks even more

Please do not abuse a nice piece of machinery merely because you are frustrated. Explore its characteristics, and even its limits, but treat it respectfully.

I'm probably just a whiney bitch but I just miss the F30 interior and the N55 engine a lot.

To make a better case of me being a whiny bitch, they even sent a driver to pick up my car 45-60 minutes away.

no worries, I can understand that.. it sucks terribly to have your own car at the dealership for so long

I feel your pain, man! I just had this issue and it took about a week to fix. It was annoying because you miss your car, but getting it back is just like getting your car all over again! It was way more exciting than I thought it would be.

It's expected of you to be a whiney little bitch because you just paid a ton of money on a car and it's not in perfect working condition. What's with all the test mules not figuring out these problems. Maybe they should fire those test mule drivers and hire people from this site that can find all the tiny details they miss. Why the **** didn't they notice the steering while vibration in the first place? Idiot test mule drivers(pardon for being rude)

Great point about the test mule drivers. The wobbly wheel syndrome should have been picked up early on.

And it's not my dealership's fault, they are just following their processes. I just miss about 60 horsies and the beautiful interior
