Hey guys.
After reading a few posts on here with people asking about how to clean, polish and wax a car I thought I'd share the fruit of about 8-10 hours of hard 'detailing' over two days... To make it make as much sense as I can I'll split it up into multiple posts... Firstly was a two bucket wash with DoDo Juice Supernatural Shampoo and DoDo Supernatural Sponges. Big white one for the car, smaller black one for the wheels. The dimples really contour well and the sponges are very dense such that grit doesn't get trapped. The black wheel sponge us a great shape and size for regular cleaning of the 403M's. I have a pH neutral wheel cleaner and hairy finger mitt for medium cleaning duties.

Next is Iron Contaminant removal using DoDo Ferrous Dueller. Not much off the new paint, if any. This is due to the lack of iron contamination on brand new paint. However, it is very effective as a heavy duty cleaner for the wheels and brakes. It dissolves brake duet and 'bleeds' purple when iron is captured.

Once rinsed and completely towel dried I hand polished the car using DoDo Supernatural Micro Prime. There was very little to correct, my dealer must be one of the good ones and have taken suitable care. No swirls and only a couple of small very minor marks. The polish was only really needed to add gloss and shine.

Once polished its time for the protection stage...
So, for a hard wearing base I applied two coats of a DoDo Juice Supernatural Hybrid Paste. In between coats I cleaned, polished, re-cleaned and sealed the glass. Glass was de-ironed, clayed, cleaned with DoDo Clearly Menthol and the green Window Waffle (Mint Merkin?), Polished with Supernatural Glass Polish, Buffed with the white Window Waffle, cleaned again with Clearly Menthol. Then finally sealed with the Supernatural Glass Sealant (nano-ceramic) and buffed up with the Micro-Suade. I love how shiny the windows have become, the privacy glass seems extra black and the water beading is excellent.

Whilst the glass sealant and 2nd coat of Supernatural Hybrid was curing I put some Hybrid paste on the accessible outer faces of the wheels and the brake callipers.

Once the Supernatural Hybrid Paste had had time to cure I applied a single layer of Supernatural Wax to the paint.

Finally I sealed the Supernatural Wax with Supernatural Acrylic Sprits. Unfortunately the weather had come in after the wax was applied. So, this was the following day after a quick rinse.

This is the final finish... The dealers finish was a bit sticky and slimy. This is now hard and really smooth. Also, the colour seems overall lighter but more complex.

Excellent very well done.
I love the OCD'ness of the whole effort. I guess you have shares in Dodo. Let me know how the hybrid does on the calipers, I am likely to use swissvax autobahn. |

I guess I should get some shares. At least I'd get some if my money back that way. I didn't manage to do the callipers very well. I don't have a jack yet so couldn't really get a them properly. Come next winter I'll have a jack and winters to put on so I'll properly OCD the brakes and wheels then.

I've just spent in excess of £150 on car cleaning products ready for when I clean it myself in a few weeks. Also plan on getting the front windows tinted and fitting new springs. Going to be an expensive few months for me and the car!

Wow, that's some effort well done....although I think we must pass the point of diminishing returns at about 2 hrs of cleaning!
Looking mighty fine for the weekend now.

Awesome. Great run-through. And the car looks fantastic for it.
Like some others I just cannot spare the time (would if I could) to clean, prep and protect my car to this degree but I do still intend to wash, clay and wax from time to time. This is a really helpful benchmark. Really need to find a decent detailer in the West Midlands! |

Great effort! An good pics too!
I used to put this kind of effort in to my car, but now we have two I really struggle to find the time to do both properly. I'm off to the US next week so have booked the 335d in for a detail whilst I'm away and hoping to come back to something like that!
