Does anyone have a DYI fix for making the doors shut all the way tight? I've already taken my car to the dealer for wind noise issues, but they claimed it was normal when compared to other F30s. If I knew how, I would fix the door shut issue in a heartbeat.

My dealer also said the noise level was normal. But if the doors are visibly sticking out irrespective of noise they should fix it as a build quality issue.

I suggest telling them it sounds like the door is still ajar when you drive and blame the poorly aligned doors. Theycannot argue with that when it is visually obvious.

Call them before you drive in to make sure they will support u

Hmmm ... this is very worryingly. Can you please post some pics of a "virgin vag**a" so we can all get a better idea?

I also had the gap between the glass and the rubber seals at the top rear of the front windows. I showed this to my SA and shop foreman after complaining about wind noise and they agreed that it was not normal. They order new window guide seals and they replaced them. It took them 2 days of work to do it and it did reduce the window noise significantly.

The only thing I hear now is the "it sounds like the door a ajar" noise that CKau described so well. I'm just trying to work a dealer visit into my schedule to get this taken care of. Maybe next week...

As dudlet said: if I knew how to adjust the door, I'd do it myself.

I came across the following comparison in car and driver, which are thought would be of interest to this thread:

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...e-specs-page-5

What was interesting to me is that, according to their measurements, the BMW was actually quieter than the Lexus at 70mph.

As it happens, I test drove a 328i sedan and was put off by the wind noise. I am now considering the IS350 and a 328i GT. Both of them should be available for test drive soon. According to What Car, the 3GT also suffers from excessive road and wind noise. However, I would still like to do my own evaluation.

It is, of course, best to perform your own comparison. You may find the frequency of the noise to either bother or not bother you.

By the way, the reported one dB difference between the BMW and Lexis is not something any of us would perceive.

My car is still at the shop getting brakes change and fixing some beep ton coming from the dash. So right now no pics but check your window guides and make sure that they are aligned perfectly top to bottom... Oh yea and don't mind my metaphor lol

Hey man so is there something that I need to tell them directly or a work order number I can say that can further persuade these @$$holes? They're having a rep take a look at my car to see if the claim is even viable.

I don't know. I don't have a PUMA number or anything like that.

I just showed it to the SA and the shop foreman and he just looked at it a bit, tugged here and there, and proclaimed it "not right" and had my SA order the parts.

Good luck!

I have noticed that the wind noise is also temperature related. If it is hotter outside, it is not as bad. Still bad, but not as bad. Has anyone noticed it to be considerable worse when the sun roof is tilted?. It seems to create more of a Venturi effect when I tild the roof. Wondering if others notice this as well?

Yes, the noise does seem to be less when it's warmer out, but it's really hard to quantify.

I suspect that warmer temperatures would make marginal door seals do a better job and I hope that tightening the doors will reduce the noise level in all temperature cases.

I'm hoping that a little adjustment will go a long way here.

Since the wind noise difference is obvious with temperature changes, it pretty much points to it being a seal issue and not the mirrors like some have suggested. This should be a fixable problem. I know mine is better since they did the adjustment, but certainly not what it should be.

In fact, while driving with the sunroof tilted, try pushing on the upper corner of the side window near the b-pillar and you can hear a noticeable reduction in the wind noise. If this could be silenced, the car would be extremely quiet.

Does anyone have detailed instructions with pictures to adjust the power windows? Surely, if I can put a rag in the corner where I perceive the noise to be coming from to reduce the wind noise, a simple adjustment should do the trick. Why the hell would my dealer replace the windshield moulding when I was very specific in showing them that the noise was coming from the upper corner near the b-pillar?

People must either be giving up or getting things repaired as activity here has really slowed. Is the a solution I haven't heard about, other than selling the car? Burning it is not an option either.

No solution... people giving up I think.
Most dealers don't seem to care.

I for one, I gave up. I learned to live with it. I hope the LCI will fix this, or in the meantime I'll get the 2014 535d and be done with it. The 3 is a lot of fun, but also a lot of cheapness.

Yes. I reckon it will be a jump from a monthly lease of $470 to around $700 but it should be worth it. Unless something serious happens, my 3 Series adventure will end in a few months.
