Do you know where to get a mount that is low profile like the picture above?

I'm not a fan of the 1-2 cm plastic on the bottom or top of generic mounts

That is up to the police officer. I was pulled over once and given a warning for no front license plate. Officer understood I didn't want a big plate covering the front of the car. He said I could get a euro one like pictured above. I said I didn't know it was legal. He said it technically isn't but because he could read the letters/numbers he wouldn't have pulled me over. For pulling me over he was a nice cop.

I live in NC and we arent required to have front plates

Interesting. Where would you go to get a plate stamped in that shape, though? It's not like existing plates would fit into that bracket - would you just trim it then?
