Why did you choose that tire size?

I guess my question is directed more towards those running 19s but feel free to chime in if you have 20s too.

I've been looking at everyone's setups and it seems like the stock wheel/tire diameter has been somewhat ignored. Whether you got stock 18s or 19s, the stock diameter is right at 26".

I ordered wheels 19x9 front and 19x10 rear and I'm going to get 255/35/19 front (26" diameter) and probably 285/30/19 rear (25.73" diameter). I should probably get 295/30/19 rear (25.96" diameter) but I'm afraid the tires are too wide and might rub but also the tire I'm getting doesn't come in 295.

From what I've seen, most people are running 235/35/19 or 245/35/19 on the front and 265/30/19 or 265/35/19 on the rear.

What's up with that?

there could be various reasons

Tire clearance
Tire/brand availability
Tire cost
Aesthetic appearance of tire mounted on wheel (streched/squared/pooched)
Change in handling characteristics of different sized tires
..thats all I can think of at the moment

Lol, I get all that. I've always put aftermarket wheels on any car I buy but one of the factors (along with those you mention) I consider is overall diameter. Just seems like its kind of ingored here. Or at least its not really talked about.

I try and maintain +/- 0.5" from OE Diameter and then it's all personal taste (I aim for the middle ground between square and streched)

I hear ya. On my current car, I have 245/35 on a 8.5" wheel so 255/35 on a 9" should be good for me.
