A while back there was a guy off here who works in the London hotel industry. Stating that he could arrange for some VIP treatment.

Where are you? Anyone know his username?

Not sure about the VIP extras but I can try and get a preferential rate (and given I am asking that normally means a nice room and a flag next to your name that makes sure you are taken care of...)

Doh the wife beat me to it and with class I might add. Our anniversary is coming up. She has booked The Savoy for two nights. I may call upon your service later in the year though.

wouldnt be my choice - never been but so many good eateries in London. Was in Quaglino's last night, lovely venue - good food, music, nice bar area....

I've been to Quaglinos it's OK, but the Savoy Grill is a bit of an institution and it's somewhere I'd like to go hence the comment, if that's OK with you?

Ian set my wife and me up at the Royal Horseguards earlier this year. Fantastic treatment and lovely hotel. Still feel deeply indebted to him!

We both had a wonderful weekend (including our first break from our toddler). Hopefully one day I can repay the favour.

Thanks for the nice words. Nothing to repay though - I am very proud of the hotels that we own and it is nice to be able to get others the chance to experience them at a good rate!

Can I be cheeky and ask which chain you work for - we’re up in London in a couple of weeks time for a royal garden party !

I work for the parent company of the chain owned by GLH. We have over 5000 rooms in London and unusually we own the brands, the business and the freehold or leasehold. Great car but a bit brash for me - became the topic of exec water cooler conversations which is never ideal.

audi is just less flash. Which sometimes is good.

I do like the new Cayenne though....
