Thank you! M2 was also a strong candidate for me but the price difference between the two was significant enough for me to choose mine. Plus I was looking for a 4 door after owning 3 2door sport coupes lol.

I had the track package wheels 442m which has staggered wheels (size as follows)

19X8 +36 with 225/40 (f)
19X8.5 +47 with 255/35 (r)

So the only gripe people have with the 437m wheels is that they tend to poke out of the fenders but I actually like the fact that they poke out a little bit. Makes the car look wider than it really is haha

so the m437's are a direct fit onto the car? It doesnt fool the electronics into thinking something weird is going on? No warning lights? - I would order the track package too. Love the way the 437s look on the car. Do you know the offset of the 437's?

found it: 437m wheel - Front 9JX19 ET:29 rear 10JX19 ET:40

Yeah no problems with the setup! There's already a bunch of guys who's had this setup so you're good to go

Why would different width wheels affect the traction or stability control? They operate on the basis of rotation so as long as they are a similar circumference there should be no problem

exactly - "similar" is not identical. That's why. Since the wheel/tire combo used on a lot of these wheels is not identical to the factory spec circumference, I wondered. Also when you start messing with offset, the camber and caster change slightly as the wheel travels up and down which while turning could be interpreted by the ecu as out of its nrmal parameters. In the case of the beautiful car in this thread the tires are exactly the same as came from the factory, so you are right the ecu is seeing the same number of revs as it expects to see. I wondered about what the different offset and width would do especially in off camber turns. Apparently nothing! Some have used different sized tires with the oem437s - which aren't the same circumference as stock - tho admittedly similar. Again I wonder that the ecu tolerates that.

All of the above are big issues in the land of STi which is where I come from. Glad the ecu is more tolerant of this stuff than my subbie.

The tires wear down all at different rates and especially between the front and rear on a RWD and the car has no issue keeping up with that. A tire tread being worn down more front vs rear only 1/8 of an inch means a 0.75" difference (roughly) so 13 rotations per second versus 13.1 at 70 mph. Obviously the computer can figure this out - don't know what's so surprising.

On an AWD car different circumference tires is a larger issue because a different tire in the front or rear means the differential is working harder or stressing but, yes, there is a difference between a Subaru and a BMW.

"...there is a difference between a Subaru and a BMW..."

meh - not so much really, unless we're talking rallye racing in which case, you're right there's a really big difference.

I don't think you're going to impress any BMW owner with how well your car could hypothetically fart its way over silly jumps on a dirt track

"impress a BMW owner"? Why on earth would I want to do that? And your characterization of world Rallye championship racing (which you might not know is hugely popular throughout the world and which Subaru has won several times) is stupid. But nice try.

I get that BMWs are upmarket from Subarus. I mean really is that your point? That's one of the reasons I want to get one. BMW s are great. Some of the owners not so much. OK I think we can stop polluting this thread now. I apologize to the OP whose car I truly admire.

Thank you for all the information and pictures! Your car looks great and is making me lean towards some 437M wheels for mine!

Feel free to go discuss how awesome rally racing, fart mufflers, and gold wheels are on the Subaru forum

Really not nice to pollute this lovely build thread with that sort of stuff. I made no attempt to make this a subaru vs. BMW tirade. That was done by one of your classy forum mates - edit just realized that was you actually. Just gonna leave this alone.

And btw - WRC racing is awesome: its challenging and fast and takes huge talent to do successfully - you might want to check it out. And BMWs have participated and do participate in it. check it out -- Gee that bimmer sounds like my subbie (actually the bimmer sounds better if im being honest)

If you are not wanting to pollute the thread with silly offroad nonsense, then stop. Any dirt bike could do a better job.
