Lug bolt question

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Anyone else have their sportline come with M14 x 1.5mm wheel bolts?

I've ordered multiple spacer packages for our car and all of them have come with the wrong size (m12 x 1.25, m14 x 1.25, etc)

I finally took them off and had them measured and they came to m14 x 1.5 which is a hard size to find! Maybe my car is a one off?

Anyway , thanks. Just trying to see what the issue is.

The E series BMW's (e.g. e90 335i) came with M12x1.5 threaded bolts.
The F series BMW's (e.g. F30 335i) came with M14x1.25 threaded bolts.

Are you certain your car has M14x1.5 threads?

I did a little research. BMW did have M14x1.5 wheel bolts at one time, but they were for certain year E53 X5's.

Found this to be true & as per BMW specs

1.25 is 'fine' thread, while 1.5 is 'coarse' thread - I highly doubt anyone would have re-tapped your hubs from 1.25 to 1.5 - not really even possible as the threads would be FUBAR

Think you just measured your bolts incorrectly with thread gage

Put some new wheels on over the holiday, and stripped some lugs. Went to dealer to get new ones, and, you guys were right. They were the X5 size. Strange but finally know what's what. Thanks guys!
