I really hope the i3 wins. I really like how BMW went out on a limb and stuck to their guns with the i cars. But its going to be tough with the F-type and the Tesla Model S in the mix...

Would love a to see a win go to BMW but would be equally excited to see it go to the Jag F-Type.

I suspect the i3 will make the short list of seven, but doubt the other two BMW models will. Fortunately I think the i3 has a pretty good shot at taking it all - previous winners include the Volt/Ampera in 2012 and the Leaf in 2011. So they definitely favor innovative cars with efficient powertrains.

Opel/Vauxhaul Insignia / 2009 VW Polo / 2010 Leaf / 2011 / MSRP $33k Volt/Ampera / 2012 / MSRP $37k VW Golf / 2013 / MSRP $18k-$36k Personally, I'd say Tesla is the winner, but they seem to go for cars under $37k MSRP. Considering that and the past "winners", I'd adjust my expectations (and definition) of "winner" accordingly. |
