Never mind the e class its the pricing that is odd.

The 160 a year car tax added to the price of the car pushes it over the 40k limit. Why one earth wouldnt you price it so all in it comes in at 39995?

May not be that many ordered with no options but still seems daft to me.

Is that right? I thought the £40k limit was list price, not OTR?

Just checked and the "list price" definitely excludes VED, so that article is incorrect.

Because
a) no one cares
b) every time the government changed tax manufacturers would need to reduce their prices
