F36 Gran Coupe coding
Taken the plunge and decided to start fiddling with my car's ECU
First changes include:
There is a heap of information out there on the bmw coding forum but it's all a big mess that makes it seem harder than it is. You basically connect a laptop to the car via a $12 cable and run a program called E-Sys. Your expenditure can stop at $12 (cost of the cable) or depending on who you talk to you may be persuaded to shell out more for a working setup. I've uploaded all of my changes to the car and look forward to testing them out tomorrow Last edited by chylld; 11-11-2014 at 05:01 PM.. |

Success!! All changes effective
I had to reset the date/time, and also my memory buttons need to be reprogrammed, but apart from that all is well. Very easy and fast. For reference I used E-Sys v3.26 and psdzdata v54. |

Hi,
Just got my f36 too... Have a cable and looking for software. Can you advise where I can get it please? Looking to: * close powered boot using interior button * fold up mirrors on lock * enable enhanced bluetooth I'm fairly new to this but have technical background. What I'm missing is what the token is needed for and what does and doesn't need it. Thanks S |

You are looking for "e-sys 3.26.1" and "psdzdata v54"
The token is just a software licence for e-sys. You need it to modify the coding files (but don't need it to read the settings off the car). Here's a good video of the process: |

Thanks Sean...
Couple of questions if I may: * RE enhanced bluetooth. I have pro nav and S6NHA taken from the bmwvin site. My research says about changing to different values based on the starting value. Could you confirm what I should change to based on the above? * Also - maybe a trivial question, should this be done with ignition running? Thanks, Steve |

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...65&postcount=9 Car should be either on a charger, or motor running to ensure proper ECU voltage during coding.

I'd highly recommend doing it with the engine running. I first tried to code with a 3.6A battery tender connected to the car and I had lots of connection issues - disappeared as soon as I started the engine.
Also turn off your laptop's firewall/AV just in case |

Awesome... Just done it. Followed the pdf to change from and then recode the head unit ecu. Worked a treat Though some bits just needed thinking. about due to slight changes in software.
Thanks to all. Question is do I build up more courage to change to fold mirrors on lock? Hmmm. Another day I feel. |

Not sure. If you say it is not there, I believe you. BMW may have changed the FDL Code name in HKFM2. I have not studied it to know.

Those Funktion names are not found in HKFM2, but functionality with additional choices are.
