Unlock F30 from inside?
If I lock the doors remote from outside it is not possible to get out of the car. Really strange I think.
As long as the key stays inside the car I can unlock with the button on the dash or by pulling the handle, but not when locked from the outside. Does anyone know if there is a way around this? I have a 328i Touring 2013, in Sweden. |

Page 36 of the manual states:
Do not lock the vehicle from the outside if there are people in it, as the vehicle cannot be unlocked from inside without special knowledge. Does anyone know what this “special knowledge” entails?

Maybe fold the rear seat down, pull the emergency release in the trunk and get out that way?
I read that line too about "special knowledge". Why wouldn't they just say what they mean? |

ISTR that they just (rightfully IMO) lost a wrongful death lawsuit because of this. Really hard to imagine what the reasoning behind this design could possibly be.

It really is bizarre. Why wouldn't the central unlock button on the dash just do what it's supposed to at all times? It's so silly, there has to be a (misguided) reasoning behind it.
Hmm...say you get carjacked or someone hops into your car while you're at the self serve gas station. You could lock the doors and the thief would never be able to get out of the car, lol. |

Isn't the rear seat release latch in the trunk? If that's the case, you are still trapped inside the car. Unless you figure out a way to transform into a pair of skis and slip into the trunk through the ski pass. It can be done folks. |

I've fit through the ski pass before, it's not too bad but it's definitely not the most pleasant way to escape.

No, but I'm also not a whale. I'm a 5' 11" 170 lbs. man, and I make it through just fine. Sorry you can't make it through?

I'll be honest, I never even tried. Never even thought of trying. It just looks so tiny. It's called a ski pass for a reason. Also, good to know you're not 12. Lol! |

Well now I have something to do this afternoon. See if I can fit through the pass. If you don't hear from me... call the fire department.

Can't you just pull the door handle and the first pull unlocks the door and the 2nd opens (at least in the front seats).
The rears won't open that way. Prob to keep kids from falling out. Just tried this with my 8 yo. Had her sit in the passenger seat. Locked the car from outside. Walked away from the car. Told her to get out. Two yanks on the door handle and voila. |
