Arrow My BMW F31 328i xDrive Sports Wagon M Sport - Alpine White

I leased a 328d xDrive MSport Estoril Blue/Black Dakota from June 2014-June 2017 and quickly determined this platform is ideal for daily use. I'd prefer N55 power (not available in the US) but the N20 is no slouch with some safe bolt-ons. My hunt for a 'keeper' F31 started in January of this year - I wanted a heavily optioned MSport N20 powered F31 in one of these combinations. (These are in order of preference)
Alpine White / Coral Red
Alpine White / Black Dakota
Mineral Grey / Coral Red
Estoril Blue II / Black Dakota

I found a decently optioned LCI AW/CR in San Francisco but the price and effort to acquire were too high. It didn't have MSport brakes or Driver's Assistance Plus.
I found 2 MG/CR cars but they were light on options and condition was so-so for both.
EBII seems more popular than AW so I found a handful of these, but all were really light on options.

After an 8 month search I found this CPO 328i xDrive MSport - Alpine White/Black Dakota at BMW of Asheville. This is 1 of 137 AW/Black MSport F31s in the US and only 1 of 11 fitted with MSport brakes. (sickfinga on maxbimmer has access to production info)

It was the only car I saw in 8 mos to have every option package I really wanted: Msport, Cold Weather, Driver Assistance, Driver Assistance Plus, Lighting, Premuim, Technology, Harman Kardon and MSport brakes. The brakes were a huge win as I was going to add a BBK to any car I bought anyways and I prefer the blue calipers. The Anthracite trim is not my top choice, but I can deal with it.

I plan to install a Dinan Power Package and square 225/45/18 Michelin X-Ice XI3 tires before the snow hits. Suspension and wheels should happen in 2018.

The front bumper cover has the dreaded plate carrier holes so I may just install a German plate to cover the eyesore for the next year or so. 4 bumper plugs would look worse than the 4 small holes and a full removal/repair/respray is cost prohibitive right now. In time I will probably fit a Euro bumper as I did on my M3.

While the car had no body/paint damage, it was never detailed by the previous owner and I'm sure it visited the automatic car wash many many times. Oakes Detail just performed an extensive correction and CQuartz coating. It looks amazing now.

OEM all weather mats and sunshade are a must.

AFE dry drop in filter for now. Stock left, AFE right. I hear more turbo - cool.

I too had an M Sport F31 diesel that we returned when the lease expired about a year ago. Really considering getting another one.

Looks great... I love the plate... I have a BMWCCA one from DelVal too. I had the bumper plugs and agree not the best option. A Nissan Altima destroyed the front of my car... now I have a new bumper and no holes.... not the recommended solution!

Removal of the badges and black chrome pipes really clean up the rear.

Where are you getting the ceramic coating done?

Best of luck... hope to see you at a DelVal meet!

Edit - saw you went to Oakes - that's the 2nd person I have heard using them.... can you pm me the cost?

Sounds like a blessing in disguise for you. ! Did you go with a Euro bumper cover?

I forgot to ask him to remove the badges...I wanted to do that before the ceramic coating. Oh well. When I have the Dinan package installed I may remove the 2 stock badges and install just the Dinan badge. Either way that out of scale and ugly xDrive logo is going.

Beautiful car....no doubt, I've always wanted a wagon and yours is perfect.

On a sad note, it's unreal to look at what the customers (us) have let bmw become. I can't believe somebody paid 60k a 328 at sticker price. That is absolutely ridiculous in so many ways. Regardless of options, holy shit.

Thanks, I dig the car a lot.

I totally agree on the cost - in general cars have gotten so expensive. Buying it in the 30s as a CPO was painful but it's the best choice for me as a daily in that price range. I know I could have gotten a nice e90M3 for that money...but I have no desire to drive an M car into the ground.

Agree 100%. Being a bmw fanboy for 20+ years, it's sad.....

Enjoy that badass wagon in good health my friend.

From one of the other 11 AW/Black MSport F31s with factory MSport brakes, congrats on the new purchase! It looks to be in excellent condition!

Per: http://bmw-rp.com/production/isg/bmw...nsf/submit.xsp

the car has a 7yr / 70k mile extended limited warranty for:
BMW N20 AND N26 Engine Timing Chain and Oil Pump Drive
BMW N20 Leak Diagnosis Module (NVLD)

With this and the CPO warranty that expires in late 2021 I should be ok!

At first the dealer replaced the camera but that did not solve the issue. The harness and module were then replaced which solved the problem. I use the cameras daily while pulling out of my driveway so I did miss them.

My Dinan parts will be here Friday - I'm pumped!

Oh, I added some rice Matt at Thompson BMW had a bunch in stock. The font is 100% stock and no light bleeds through the red paint.

Very nice.... I'm somewhat interested- my colleague buy from Thompson. Can you pm the price? Does it look out of place? The new M5 has Red I think?
