Questions for wheels gurus here: Square set up

Quick questions for all wheels/suspension gurus here:

Any effect on how the car will handle if one were to have a square set up on a non x-drive?
Will a square set up trigger error codes such as, blinking ESP, etc?
For 20x8.5 with either et36 or et34 all around, which ET will fit nicely for both front and rear? I mean clear the brakes etc?
As far as tires, perhaps would go with either: 235/35ZR20 or 245/35ZR20 all around. Which size would you recommend me getting?
Last but not least, has anyone have any personal experience on running a square set up on a non x-drive?

Unless you opted for the summer option w/ and M-Sport, all F30's come from the factory with a square setup; so codes should not be an issue. My F30 Sportline has 225/45-18's on all four corners.

Now, for 20x8.5 all around, which et should I be choosing to clear the Msport brakes? et36 or et34?

I would go with 34, but that is still not aggressive enough for the rear if you ask me.
8.5 with an ET around 25-30 would look good both from and rear. But no matter what you choose with a square setup on the F30 the front wil be more aggressive.

8.5 ET25 is about the same up front as 1013mm has on his HRE's. So quite aggressive...
8.5 ET25 equals a 9.5 ET38 in the back which all the M5 reps are running.

I'm getting that, for the rear, a set of 5mm or 10mm for the rear is needed to achieve a more aggressive look... Am I correct so far?

Yes, an 8.5" ET35-ish would be great up front and perfect with a 5-10mm spacer in the back.
If you want the front to be more aggressive just add a 5mm spacer.

I'm running 9" ET30 up front but that is too aggressive if you don't lower the car (in my opinion, but perfect with a low drop).

I think 20x8.5 et35 all around would be nice. Slightly more aggressive than stock and should clear brakes and structs. Also suitable for lowering to any extent without rubbing if using BMW recommended tire sizes.

I was thinking a square set up either with 235/35-20 or 245/35-20. Either would be ok I assume? Interestingly the latter size has more brand to choose from than the former, I don't understand on why...

Cant yiu get the same width but different offsets instead of using a spacer??

Unfortunately that's not an option, the brand does not offer other width (at least for the time being) - only 8.5 available

If going for a square setup, a lot of brand only offer 8.5 et35 that would fit all 4 corners on F30.

If going staggered, you can go wider at rear with different offset.
