Buying a 428i - 3 year old

Hello

I have got my heart/head set on buying a used BMW 428i (Luxury Model)(64 plate).

The one I'm looking at has -
Comfort Access
HUD
High Beam Assist
Park Assist
Reverse Camera
Pro Nav
Auto transmission

My query was along the lines of are there any 'things' I should be aware of? These could be cool features that you may have figured out etc. or things I should be careful of.

Also, now that Auto start stop has been a round do most of you guys leave it on or turn it off? My gut instinct is to turn it off...

I'll be viewing the car later this week, probably on Saturday and if all goes well, I could be the owner of my first BMW.

Thanks

The Gran Coupe was the first BMW to tempt me to the brand. No complaints what so ever.

Looks like it's well spec'd. I've a manual but never bother turning stop start off, it's just a non issue for me. Just see how you go.

Enjoy your new car

Hi

I forgot to mention it was a Gran Coupe - I really liked it when it first came out. I prefer hatchbacks over saloons so with its big boot etc it was the 'premium' choice for me

I've got an auto box on my car and it depends on the traffic, if I'm in slow moving stop start traffic that means it's coming in every 2min so to speak I turn it off. Otherwise I just leave it on

Regards the auto start/stop it's bloody annoying on an auto as you can't modulate it with the clutch like on a manual. If you're coming to a roundabout and you only want to stop for a split second it cuts out just when you want the power. In my opinion it can be dangerous on rare occasions and just dam right annoying in others. You could move the stick to the left to counter act it but then what's the point of an auto if you're gonna fiddle with the stick anyway.

Hello

deal is £19,152 at a BMW dealer

Think the 430's came out in 2016 - so the cost of those is out of my budget range.

Thanks for the answers re the start/stop.

Do you have to turn it off each time you get in the car?

Unfortunately, yes you do. There is no permanently off option.

I might be wrong, but you can code to remember the last setting, in this case off! coding experts can confirm

I doubt the dealer would help you, there are lots of very knowledgeable users here which can help/advise you

I did it on my 328i using esys and a cable off amazon for a tenner

Very easy, lots of how-to's if you search the forum

You can control it via your use of the brake pedal, but I agree it isn't as easy as on a manual.

wow this coding thing is deep...

came across this - http://www.mycarly.com/product/bmw-app/

Any experience of this on here or is Esys the way to go (if I decide - I'm a little nervous at this stage)

If you’re not confident with coding via esys on a laptop, get Carly or bimmercode.
I’ve tried esys and i know you can do a lot with it but for sheer ease, I now have bimmercode. So simple and does all the basics such as start/stop, lights, window/mirrors etc

I recommend to go with Bimmercode. It is slightly cheaper (certain codings with carly require further cost), and also provides more options in an extremely straight forward layout.

I've coded plenty including start/stop to be off with Bimmercode, no issues.

Do it!

Great first BMW. Warning, it probably won't be your last. They are addictive.

Post some photos once you have it.
