Was it much trouble convincing them and which dealer if you don't mind disclosing?

I've a feeling mine may have been touched up before I took ownership as there is a suspicious looking (albeit small) repair but they presumably have that in record?!

Part of the email i received, i asked for conformation as it was authorised over the phone once i sent my own pictures in.

"Thank you for sending these over.

I have forwarded them over to my Manager and we will be replacing the whole seat cover for you.

Many thanks.

Kind Regards,
Emma Rowell"

Lovely result!

If I ever have a similar issue (think I will have shortly signs already there) I will do you a PM if that's OK

Can't help but think the new cover will go the same way though???

It's a good question and one that crossed my mind. Clearly the 'trick' is to keep it clean, treat it with some reputable stuff and change the way you (!) get into the car. No guarantee any of that'll work of course and all a bit silly really but what else can you do? You can't keep going back to the dealer every 12 months for a replacement cover, well I suppose you could but that would just be ridiculous.

Did you have any leather protector on it?

I'll undoubtedly have to change the way I get in the car from throwing myself in it to daintily placing my hoop first and then pivoting so I don't hit the bolster so much. A bit like a lady in a short skirt getting out of a car only in reverse and without the skirt, obviously.

Final picture of 3 that I sent to my dealer last week.
Really funny this. I was about to start a thread on this topic last night. I've got close to 6.5k miles on my 430d (picked up 1st March) and I've got wear on the piping of the bolster very similar to this. Noticed it yesterday as I was cleaning/wiping the seats. Not happy about it at all as I thought I was being careful getting in and out to prevent exactly this.

But as mentioned, I've heard they can be replaced under warranty so I've taken pictures for the moment and will monitor it over the next year with the thought of bringing it up with the dealer at ~18 months old. Really surprised to see it at just 6k miles.

Mine's Dakota. Can you get Coral Red in Merino?

I've got a feeling even though I'm trying to get in/out differently I won't always remember and so it will get worse. Will be monitoring it closely.

I'd much rather have the M sport cloth/alcantara seat trim than dakota as it's bloody awful and belongs in a taxi.

I will add that the wear on the bolsters shown is user error, if you've got lovely, supple, waxy merino leather then you have to take care when getting in and out of the car, just slamming your jean clad arse against the bolster will result in wear.

Thankfully it's really easy to get in and out without rubbing up against the side bolster if you can be bothered.

Totally agree. I had Dakota in my F10, and won't be having it again.

I just can't understand why people like it, I was in an E class taxi in Cologne last month and the MB-Tex was better!
