Forum curse

Sooo predictable. After placing my order for a 430d GC a week ago, I've been spending way too much time on here and the NCC second guessing my choices, in particular the Carbon Black, Oyster interior and Individual Piano Black trim.

I do love that colour scheme, but have started to convince myself that CB will only look good when spotless and in bright light, and also that it maybe hides the curves of the bodywork a bit too much. The current Mrs C didn't help by suggesting 'old people have cream interiors'. At 45 I suspect I qualify though.

Anyway, I've done it. Helped in no small part by Redandy's recent delivery pics, I've changed to Glacier Silver and Coral Red, with Brushed Alu + gloss black finishers. I do feel like I've made the right decision, not least because deleting Individual has allowed me to add Adaptive lights onto the spec, and should also bring in the build and delivery dates!

I just feel weirdly that I'm letting MashinBenzin down as I was all set to join the CB club. Sorry buddy, but at least you'll still be rare / exclusive!

I'm only 31 and have gone for oyster / Tanzanite spec..... your making me feel old now!!

Having had black Dakota on the last three bmws I needed a change - I love coral but was put off with the coral dashboard.... I know individual dash removes this but it's a luxury I didn't want to spec.

PS Adaptives are awesome ! Must have IMO

Coral red a silver takes some beating. I had a M135 in that combo.

I'm 24 and I have Oyster!

Realistically you just go with what you want, so if GS and Coral is what you want then noone can tell you otherwise.

I know what you mean, it is an awful lot of red. I'm relying on having seen one at the dealer in natural light - it looks great, and a bit more muted in real life than artificially lit photos. Dark headliner and privacy glass should keep it nice and moody in there too

I'm not sure the trim makes any difference in terms of which panels are CR, at least on the 4GC? I think both upper and lower dash are always red regardless, it's just the inserts and finishers which change with the trim selection. I did consider keeping the Piano Black, but I think the Alu finish goes well with 'sportier' (as opposed to 'luxury') interior schemes, and ties in the silver paint.

Isn't it just the lower dash?

Just the lower dash. Which is why I went for Oyster and the lower dash stays black

Sorry, yes, disconnect between brain and fingers. I meant neither the upper nor lower dash vary in colour when you change the trim.

Speccing the individual leather dash would change the lower dash back to black.

I've got MG and Oyster and I love it. I prefer that the lower dash is oyster rather than black.

Had my doubts when I ordered but stuck with it. I think it's a classy combo. I'm 32 by the way. I don't think cream interiors are an old people thing.

They are if they are entirely cream, i.e. everything cream inc the pillars and roof lining, but not the way BMW do it.

I love the MG and CR combo and had it on my M235i, however the red lower dash is just a step too far for me so went Saddle brown on my 440i GC, again with MG exterior.

Thought long and hard about another Carbon Black car but having been there in the past it's not a colour but a job.

Fair play, never got as far as trying the individual leather option. Just stuck this into the NCC - very nice! Possibly lucky I don't have another spare 800 quid

I like the Oyster, hence speccing it originally. For me it was more about changing the exterior colour (lighter), and then finding the best (for me) contrasting interior colour. Silver outside and black inside would have brought back difficult memories of a Passat I owned, so Coral Red it had to be.

Noooo, what have you done

No worries, your choice sounds fantastic too. Most of the colour schemes available are pretty good, in my opinion, and I certainly agonised over colour for a while. You've got the best shape, that's the main thing

One thing on CB - it really doesn't need fantastic light or cleanliness to show the colour. I'm amazed how blue it looks on dark/gloomy days and it also stayed looking good even without washing. The blue is always there, it's all angle dependent. Not trying to change your mind (again), just mentioning!

I have the Oyster with EB and I wasn't sure about the pale lower dash, but I have to say I love it - went for brushed Alu trim/Black highlight and it really lifts the interior.

I'm an old(ish) person, and my interior isn't cream..... sludgy green-brown in places, but definitely not cream

Glad I could help

I couldn't be more pleased with it - suits the car so well I have the chrome finisher though rather than black as wanted a change from the last couple and had plenty of comments on how good it looks, also mentioned by a couple of people when picking it up at BMW that it was a combo they hadn't seen before but worked well (the brushed aluminium / chrome finisher with silver & red I mean), imho that is what really does finish it off with the silver exterior - it does look really good on the doors and in the back.

Stunning, cannot wait. Am crossing everything that having removed the Piano Black is going to make a big difference to the delivery date.

That chrome finisher works brilliantly on the doors splitting the black and red

Yeah that's what I think to - blends a little with the black finisher and not as stand out.

It is nice. But then the black gloss finisher splits the alu and the coral on the dash, which I also think looks really sharp:

Don't agree. Black leather is a pain in the ass to keep clean. Black shows up every speck of dust!

I think the coral dash looks fantastic with the silver exterior and the aluminium.
