Water spots or Lacquer peel?

After washing my car earlier i saw these marks on my bonnet and thought wtf lacquer peel on a 3yr old car!! But am I mistaken and these are water marks?
I've never had water marks before and I ran my finger nail across them and you can feel a edge. Can someone put me out of my misery and say this happens with water marks otherwise Bmw will be getting a call Monday to sort it out.

I'd say water marks, have seen this before. Was it hot when you washed the car?

Unfortunately it was quite warm so it is possible they could be water marks. I haven't had the time to bring the machine out to compound yet but I thought I'd ask you knowledgeable folk before I do.

Definitely looks like water marks, if it was lacquer peel, you'd have dull, matte areas, those clearly still have lacquer on them.

Looking back at the picture you're probably right with them being water marks as there are too many marks that I didn't notice beforehand to be lacquer peel.

Apologies nothing to do with the issue.

However when I glanced at the thread title I read it as 'Water Sports or Lacquer Peel'

I know it's a BMW site, but do we need to get involved with all that Continental strangeness?

Oh and THAT would be off topic
