I think I am heading down the same path as many here, but might make a few adjustments. My main concern is to improve visibility for the low beams with a secondary interest in having my car not look like it was built in the late 1980s. I am looking for the path of least resistance here, so this is what I am thinking:

High Beams - Philips CrystalVision Ultra H7...so that I don't run into the fit issues discussed elsewhere...or is there an easy way to fit a LED bulb without the need to modify the housing?

Low Beams - H7 LED - there are so many options, need some help here - Fan or no Fan and why? Any other watch-outs? Amazon has these: https://www.amazon.com/LED-Headlight...470955011&th=1

DRL - PW24W LED from ijdmtoy - matches the 6000k of high beams

Fog - same as low beams in H8

Plan to use the BimmerCode App to address cold/warm check issues.

Any thoughts / guidance would be very much appreciated!

Read this:

I considered only doing the fogs and low beams, until the first time I drove at night with those completed. I ordered another pair of bulbs for the highs that same night.

Billfitz - thanks. Ideally I would do the high beams but I am extremely hesitant about modifying the heat sink. How much material did you have to remove to get a fit? Also, on the fogs, have you heard of a way to put in LED without the need for resistors or did I miss a conclusion that coding can fix this?

I cut about 1/3 of the heat sink off. It's a simple job. The reduced heat sloughing capability isn't a problem with high beams, assuming you don't have them on all the time, like you do with low beams.
I still needed resistors on the fogs even after coding. I suppose there's a way to make them unnecessary, but adding them was a simple affair, especially as there's plenty of room for them, unlike the highs and lows, so rather than dick around with them I put the resistors in and called it a day.

I assume you're talking about halogens. The 'best' H7 is no better than stock. 55 watts is 55 watts, 1400 lumens is 1400 lumens. Osram used to make a 65 watt 2100 lumen H7 off-road bulb that could be adapted for use in the fogs, but it's been discontinued. The low beam and high beam use the same bulb because it's the reflector dispersion pattern that determines throw, not the bulb.

Does anyone have any experience with these lights? I am going to go down this path as well, and wanted to make sure these would work. They're fanless and include a Can-Bus

So far no issues with my low beams or any of the LEDs and no flickering/ect. Headlights are much brighter, bulb color matches while they are on and they are much brighter than the OEM bulbs.

Just replaced my h7 halogens with some Silverstar ZXE bulbs and adjusted the height of my low beams and fog lights. I went with the ZXE because it was advertised as 4200k so I thought it would be a whiter look than the nasty yellow stock look. Honestly didn’t make a big difference, but they are less yellow than the stock bulbs. I also changed the DRLs to LEDs but haven’t touched the parking lights.
I really like the cutout lines as they are very sharp and distinct. On the garage door you can see that they are slightly whiter than the stock fog lights..
Here’s some pics:

On the driver side is the ZXE, stock on the passenger side

The DRL LEDs randomly flicker, waiting for my Vgate to code it.
I don’t think I’ll be satisfied until I get some angel eyes with xenons LOL!

Update: I didn’t like the yellowness of the halogen bulbs so I got some LEDs on ebay, and coded off the warm and cold delays. And switched bulb type to LED. I like how white they are but the cutout line is not as clean.
I’m happy for now.
I also coded my fogs to come on with the DRL as my welcome lights.

They may not throw a code but the warm check may blink them every few minutes. It won't happen when they're on, and being daytime running lights it won't happen until they're off, at night, when the headlights are on.

I'll have to check that sometime. Edit Updated on 3/2/20, i checked the DRL's in both situations as you posted and nothing so far as blinking, flickering, flashing or throwing any codes, i got these from HighPerformanceBulbs.com and as they implied in the description, it will not throw any error codes...
